Okinawa Santa Maria Voyage #01 2018
Pour this blind and several tasters swore it was red wine, not rum. It's an Okinawa cane-juice agricole finished in a red-wine cask, and that cask dominates: grape, dried red fruit, a little oak, with the grassy agricole notes sitting underneath. One member found "fruchtige rote Traube" and tannins like an older Saint James. Body runs thin, and not everyone wanted the wine that loud.
- Grape and red fruit
- Real agricole character
- Good for the ABV

How does Okinawa Santa Maria Voyage #01 2018 taste?
Aggregated from 10 community reviews.
Red-wine cask agricole, thin and divisive Polarizing. The red-wine cask either reads as fruity and interesting or as having buried the rum entirely. Most agree the body is thin and the wine note is very loud.

Nose: Spanish style, I would say. But with lots of fruit, especially white grapes, sweetness, very pleasing. Gives the impression of a column still rum, not very complex. Palate: maple syrup, cask, mild Again I think I have a column still rum in my glass, probably from Central America. Alcohol content approx. 50% Very barrel-like finish All in all not my cup of tea but not bad either. Therefore 6.5 as my rating

Very exciting! Fruity red grape, typical Agricole notes, but not too floral, finish with tannins and wood like an older Saint James. An amazing amount of flavor and complexity for the low percentage.

Phew ... red wine on the nose. On the palate, the agricole notes that I don't like so much join in. It's also a little thin. Not bad in terms of craftsmanship (the wood is nice, for example), but it doesn't meet my taste across the board. Sorry.

Unfortunately, once again I can't say a good word about this rum. For me, it's another prime example of how you can completely finish off the basic ingredient. I can really only taste red wine here, unfortunately nothing more, the other notes are more than subtle in the background. Must have been a very wet cask. The rest simply sunk into the cola.

The aroma is strongly reminiscent of fruity grapes, as in red wine. The taste is just as fruity as red wine, with a large scoop of sweet and floral notes. The agricole is clearly evident here. An exciting blend in any case. The finish is very sweet, almost liqueur-like, and therefore too sweet for me. However, the alcohol is perfectly integrated.

Uhhh...

Feels like drinking red wine
