The Wild Parrot New Yarmouth Selected by LMDW 2005
Nail polish, overripe pineapple and banana hit first, backed by a thick, oily body and a long, bone-dry finish. This is a high-ester New Yarmouth pot still at a full 66.6% — one taster called the intensity enough to "anesthetize the palate," and a few flag a spice/medicinal note and pushy young oak. Classic 2005 Jamaican funk, turned all the way up.

How does The Wild Parrot New Yarmouth Selected by LMDW 2005 taste?
Aggregated from 17 community reviews.
Extreme, oily high-ester Jamaican bomb Loved by ester fans for its intense varnish-and-tropical-fruit power. Most agree it's extreme, oily and very hot — several say the alcohol could be better integrated, and the oak divides people.

A real aromatic knockout. This ester-rich New Yarmouth presents powerful notes of varnish, overripe tropical fruit and olive tapenade on the nose. Despite the light woody, spicy and citrus notes, the fermented, phenolic aromas typical of Jamaica dominate. The funky, heavy, powerful and aromatic profile described on the nose returns on the palate with additional tannins and roasted notes. The rum is oily, thick and concentrated on the palate, and above all of a power that literally anesthetizes the palate (perhaps even a little too much). The finish is very long, with no aromatic surprises on the profile released on the palate, even if it has enough to disinfect the palate and throat. An extreme rum not for everyone.

21.02.2020 A small private event where we borrowed the basement bar area for a private tasting and also had a go at their food. Notes. Light in colour. Nose Intense, ester, wood, fruity, overripe, polish, light citrus. Palate Intense, warm, wood, fruity, citrus, pineapple, polish, roasted. Finish Very long, dry, wood, roasted, light chocolate, iodine, faint coffee.

The nose is resinous, acidic and fruity, with extremely overripe aromas. Glue, caramel and vanilla complete the aromatic bouquet. The nose is intense, very rich and concentrated. Beautiful. The palate remains extreme, as it too is extremely intense. The attack is frank, with its 66.6% alcohol content. The profile is heavier and less greedy than the nose, with a herbaceous, medicinal note that disturbs me. The finish, in addition to being very long, is bewildering, with notes of empyreumatic and extreme spice. What an experience! Clearly not for the faint of heart, because it's still pretty intense. I'm delighted to have tasted it during this tasting, as the palate doesn't quite fit my criteria.
