If you want a lighter, gentler side of Hampden rather than a full ester bomb, this 8-year 2016 pot-still cask-strength fits — fresh wood, banana, faint smoke, candied fruit and a bit of chocolate. Several tasters found it pleasant but muted; one summed it up as "no profile Hampden." A dirty, fermented touch divides people, and a couple caught bitter off-notes.

Light but pleasent Hampden. A dirty touch wich makes this one unique. I like it and i think its price quality.

Tasted together with the Franconian Tasting Gang. Unfortunately once again one of the poorer bottlings from The Whisky Jury. Nothing that leaves a lasting impression. It's okay as a mixer, but not really a top candidate either.

#5562 16.08.2025 Running through a few samples while listening to som Psy Trance. Nose Fresh, light wood, fruity, banana, faint smoke, light chocolate, light orange. Palate Fresh, light wood, faint smoke, fruity, light banana, light citrus, faint coconut, light chocolate, medium spicy. Finish Long and warm, light wood, light pineapple, light chocolate, faint smoke. Empty glass Light smoke, pineapple, light ginger, light coconut, light chocolate, vanilla.

Franconian Tasting Gang - 23.11.2024: The evening was a bit advanced, so no proper tasting note created. However, I was very glad that I held back on the bottle. The profile didn't appeal to me at all. There was also a subliminal note of vomit on the nose. But perhaps I should give the rum another chance at a better time.

Dégustation au Limoges Spirits Festival 2025. 👃 & 😋 Les marqueurs sont tous assez légers ; des fruits confits, une forme de fraîcheur, un peu de fermentation mais plutôt désagréable, de la sucrosité de miel doux, de la fumée, des esters légers. Je ne retrouve pas la concentration et l'intensité qui fait la renommée de la distillerie Hampden. Pas le meilleur Hampden que j'ai pu déguster, loin de là. Ce dram ne m'a pas convaincu.
