Coconut is the twist here — an unexpected note riding on top of the usual heavy Demerara. Dark chocolate, tobacco, oak and burnt sugar do the heavy lifting, with a fuller mouthfeel and a slightly drier sweetness than El Dorado's other single barrels. After the 2012 LHI/DHE, another great El Dorado. Lots of dark and sweet aromas with dark chocolate, tobacco, wood, coffee, and a mix of brown caramel and burnt sugar. Dried plum adds subtle fruity notes.

Really nice El Dorado that probably flies completely under the radar. Dark chocolate, cola syrup, medjoul dates, cinnamon, allspice, and strong coffee with maple syrup, as well as orange peel, dried plum, and maraschino cherries. Unusually sweet and easy-drinking for an El Dorado! Overall really like it a lot! Thanks Jakob for the sample!

On the nose dominated by oak, chocolate, tobacco and dark spices. On the palate the same spectrum, recognizable spicy aroma combined with heavy sweetness. Very pleasing Demerara profile, but lacking complexity. For lovers of heavy, sweet Guyana profiles a great rum.

Wonderful color! Typical Demerara profile with the density of tropical aging. Nice spices and a hint of dusty attic dresser. Good strength, sweet and pleasant. Not a Velier Rare Collection killer, but good taste combines with drinkability and that's not a bad thing either.

This is a really good El Dorado, not that it's gonna be with the top DDLs, but for that price, you have a 12 yo in casks strength, and it delivers a good amount of flavors: oak, dried fruits, brown sugar.

Tasted a freshly opened bottle side by side with the Pussers 50th Anniverary and the El Dorado 2012 LHE/DHI, two personal favorites that I previously rated 8.5 and 8.7. This TWE store pick shares a lot of DNA with both of those bottles, so if you enjoy those you'll definitely enjoy this. More refined and complex than the Pussers 50th. Fuller mouthfeel, slightly drier less acidic sweetness than the LBI/DHE with the addition of a coconut note - although nowhere near as coconut forward as most Foursquares. Nice!
