Give it 30 minutes and you get toasted coconut, cream toffee, bitter orange and black tea, with cigar smoke and walnut underneath. Still a little harsh on the nose due to the high ABV, but after a while it already has complex spicy, fruity and hoppy aromas. The taste continues just as grandiose with vanilla, coconut and fruit. Esters are easily recognizable. The finish is short, but just as intense with notes of nut and tobacco. Super cool rum; I'll probably have to look around for a bottle after the sample

Edit: also very good in MaiTai in my opinion, but I'm not as experienced as some other MaiTai junkies here 😅 Finally tried it together with DomM. Had to prove myself against the Corman collins, as I didn't have any other 94 open at the time. At first I found him in midfield, but the longer he was allowed to breathe, the better I found him. Please give it at least 30 minutes, preferably a little more, and then it will be really delicious. For me, upper midfield with a connection to my personal top group.

Very dark and smoky, almost charred. Reminds of cigar and tobacco, heavily toasted oak barrel, dark roasted almost burnt coconut chips, plus many bitter notes like walnut, bitter orange peel, and black tea, with the typical coconut banana notes in the background but rather very subtle. The quality and the price asked for a 30-year-old mostly tropical-aged Jamaica rum are nonetheless very high!

04-04-2025 - Rate 9.2 One of the best New Yarmouths I have tastet 08-08-2025 - Rate 9.6 Have tastet this one quit a few times now and it keeps getting better and better. This is the New Yarmouth to beat. Notes of wood, barrel, fruit and spices. Palate is spice, tropical fruit, oak, wood and a hint of coconut. Long finish with wood, spices caramel and leather. It's so nice to taste these well-matured, high-quality bottlings. 30 years, 24 of which are tropical. These old NY have so much to offer 🤤 Nose: full, round, intense. Old and yet very fruity. There are fresh, sour fruit aromas, as well as dark, dried ones. Blackcurrant and gooseberry with yellow lemon and pineapple on the one hand and blackberry, banana and dried bitter orange on the other. Accompanied by intense cream toffee and the tart sweetness of maple syrup. A chocolatey texture is now added, which leads into a spicy, woody, roasted note. Sandalwood with vanilla and a hint of pipe tobacco. A pleasant sticky note remains present the whole time. Wonderful fragrance. 9.1 Palate: intense, full-bodied and really tasty here too. Pleasantly bitter, spicy and fruity at the beginning with old ester notes. Bitter orange with blackcurrant, pineapple and cherry at the same time, but also nutty-bacon with pecan and tonka bean. Malty, spicy and roasted with plenty of tobacco and liquorice and a little vanilla. At the end it turns into soapy camomile. Now considered straight and on its own without comparison, a top rum. 9.1

9:On the nose, three things bump into our nosetrils-candied fruits, esters and cigar smoke, slowly joined with polish, barrel impact notes with roasted wood tones like pastry, biscuits, caramelized Demerara sugar, toasted coconut, yellow fruits, citrus and spices like cinnamon. On aeration, the molasses is sweet, candied, flowery, musty, the fruits also tropical with pineapple, as roasted nuts also play a role. 9:On the palate, the attack is intense, sweet, delicious with variety of fruits like coconut, bitter orange, yellow fruits, esters, very marmelade like and roasted wood notes like butterscotch, nuts, leather, later some confectionery, spicy with cinnamon, cardamom and vanilla.After the rum is well rested, red fruits join, become candied, dryness and some black tea. 8,9:The finish is long, dry&tannic, soapy, the wood is charred with chocolate, leather, nuts, caramelized, butterscotch and the fruits are dried, citrus and tropical with coconut, as the molasses is earthy with tobacco, musty and with tea..

I quite like it ... not an outlier at the top ... but not one at the bottom either. Dark and spicy (but really not overly layered) New Yarmouth 94 profile with subtle bitter notes of nuts and citrus with wood, which complements the fruit, spiciness and caramel nicely. Sweet on the palate with well-integrated alcohol. Needs some ageing time. Definitely one of the better ones for me.

Hanse Spirit Hamburg February 2026. And then probably the winner of the day. A super New Yarmouth. Lots and lots of coconut, also a slight sweetness, mainly vanilla here, but also wood and spice.

Great bottling, tastes very good to me. Very powerful, flavorful and full-bodied. Quite nutty but typical markers. But still good complexity and multi-layered flavors. This vintage is simply great fun.

👃 = The nose is a fresh and acidic mix of grilled tropical fruits (coconut, banana, pineapple, orange) with caramel, a bit of lemon and a vanilla note.. 👄 = After the lively attack, I have on the palate a fatty fruity spicy mix with a bit of esters. Woody and bitterness express themselves mainly during the long finish. This old 30-year rum cannot leave you indifferent and for my part I like it a lot 👍

Another 94 New Yarmouth, this time from FRC. It also knows how to please. The nose is intensely spicy, with coconut and something alcoholic. On the palate, the spice also predominates here, paired with wood, coconut and quite intense. However, there is also a noticeable alcoholic sharpness, which unfortunately detracts somewhat from the overall good result. This also continues in the finish.

German Rum Festival 2026 review, so not the most accurate review done by me. This might be the second New Yarmouth 1994 that i have tried and i liked this one better than the Samaroli 1994 that i have tasted before. This rum needed some time to open up, maybe 30 minutes and it was festival bottle anyway. On the nose: Intense. Woody, roasted and spices like vanilla. Burnt sugar note? Once the rum opens up you get a fruity mixture of fermented, sweetened fruity notes. Taste: Intense. Woody. Spicy notes from the barrel like vanilla , light nutmeg and light leather. Fruity notes. Orangepeel notes. Dried fruits. Little bit of chocolate notes at the end. Round Finish: Woody, light nutty notes and nice chocolate notes. Light plum notes. Light earthy/tobacco notes. Pretty good and now i have to get a sample of this rum for a better review.

#5304 09.05.2025 Tasted at out local tasting with Hannes from Whisky Watcher. Nose Medium intense, naturally sweet, light floral, wood, light roasted, light mint, citrus, light caramel, light ester, faint cherry. Palate Oily, fresh, naturally sweet, light wood, light roasted, dried fruit, light berries, light caramel, faint coconut. Finish Very long and warm, light wood, fruity, light berries, light nutts, spice, faint tannins, light licorice. Needs to rest for a while to settle and really open up.

After a month on the dry one, it must be something good :). As I was a bit impatient, I was only allowed to smell it for 2 hours 🫢. I definitely liked it straight away. Slightly spicy, but otherwise very round and intense with a pleasant sweetness. Wonderfully spicy on the palate with a nice hint of (bitter) orange. It's even a little too bitter for my taste, but that hardly detracts from it in the end.

A 94er New Yarmouth from FRC: On the nose spicy and coconut-focused, you could almost turn towards Barbados, intense and lively. On the palate, strong spice, wood, and coconut merge – a profile that perfectly reflects my preferences.

A beautiful aroma of coconut chocolate with fine candied fruit wafts from the glass. Quite sweet on the palate, again coconut paired with black tea, vanilla and red fruits. A little sharp-edged. The finish is ok. A little too sweet and not fruity enough for me, but quite tasty.

The alcohol is super well integrated. The sweetness provides an excellent contrast to the strong wood and spice notes. Edit: Compared to RX 24894. In the latter the alcohol is much better integrated, also the aroma spectrum is better. Therefore the rating here must be corrected downwards.

Yeah, well, this NY94 is worth it. The full intense aroma of almost 68% alcohol makes it clear who you're dealing with as soon as you smell it. Strong tropical fruit complemented by equally intense coconut wood and vanilla bends beautifully into sweetness. On the palate, these notes continue, adding the bitterness of orange peel or candied fruit, all at an incredible strength. Only the candied fruit remains on the finish. The colour is full-bodied and dark, I want to drink this often!

Typical New Yarmouth 1994 notes, column still par excellence, the ex-bourbon cask is also recognizable - great level, no doubt. In direct comparison, however, it lacks expressiveness and unique characteristics. Absolutely considered therefore very good, but compared to other vintage representatives not a top release.

1994 New Yarmouth Cross Tasting - Part 1: Here, too, the over 67% alcohol comes across as unexpectedly "gentle". Quite heavy and dark but with pleasant notes of dried fruit and berries on the palate.

Unmittelbar nach dem Öffnen der Flasche max. 85 Punkte, aber nun mit 10 Tagen Luft haben sich die initial zu dominanten herben bitteren Noten ganz wunderbar mit den fruchtigen Aromen harmonisiert. Auch die Alkoholintegration ist besser, braucht kein Wasser mehr, veträgt aber ein paar Tropfen. Ich liebe diese Wallnuss Kokos Vanille Mischung! Für mich knapp vor meiner Referenz RA 25y, daher 91 Punkte und direkt noch eine Flasche bestellt. Happy new year to everyone here!

On the nose at first a lot of glue. It disappears after standing for a bit and makes way for fruity cough candy. Also a bit of dry bitter orange peel comes through and then clearly cream candy. Eventually a bit of tobacco smoke appears and almost something like bacon. For me, however, the cough candy/cream candy character dominates. In the mouth then also glue and smoke, which slowly gives way to coconut and caramel. In the finish everything comes together, smoke, cream candy and coconut and even some vanilla. Great rum again, I have never been disappointed by FRC. Only the glue could be more subtle, but it disappears on its own with some time... #34:251215

Tried it for the first time today. Because of all the recommendations, I let it sit for 30 minutes first. Smell is very woody. Taste is initially just alcohol, which is clear at 68%. But then very quickly coconut and a pleasant sweetness. Wood stays pleasantly in the background. Insanely long finish.
