Bedford Park Westerhall Estate Single Barrel Grenada Rum 1996
Sipped neat, this drinks far younger and lighter than 27 years suggests — almost no dark, heavy oak, which surprises everyone who tries it. Several tasters keep landing on the same comparison: it reads like a Foursquare. Vanilla, coconut, orange peel and roasted nuts, with a cocoa-coffee bitterness on the finish. Clean and easy, if not especially deep.

The look inside the bottle
How does Bedford Park Westerhall Estate Single Barrel Grenada Rum 1996 taste?
Aggregated from 14 community reviews.
Clean, Foursquare-like aged Grenada sipper Well-liked but the recurring note is honest: for 27 years old it's surprisingly tame and one-dimensional. Most enjoy the clean citrus-and-nut profile; a few wanted more from the age.

As a Canadian I felt really lucky to taste this given it was chosen for RCC. A fantastic rum that stands out for people who want something to share with new rum drinkers and those more experienced drinkers who want something to sip on day to day.

Great, drinkable and approachable rum. Chosen for the Rum Club Canada release with Bedford Park, was a pleasure to try. For the price, at this age, they’ve done a wonderful job for the drinker who wants to open their bottle.

Awesome rum! Super easy to drink but has a great flavour profile. Fruity on the nose and tastes like a mix of tropical fruit and cereal with a bit of coffee cake at the end. Nice to try something at a great price from a new brand.

Nose: Clearly wood forward given the age but it's not been stripped of all the character of the distillate. Light florals. Green apples. Spice. Has a little peppery spice to it. Palate: Oily enough. A hint of ginger. Sharp green fruits. Caramel and honey. Drinks very well.
