"Positively surprised" is the line that keeps coming up: a Marie-Galante Bielle agricole that's softer and fruitier than the grassy style suggests. Honey, ripe yellow fruits and vanilla up front, then it turns woody with milk chocolate, pencil shavings, tea and pepper. At 54.9% cask strength, several tasters felt the alcohol pokes through, and a few found it a touch simple for nine years.

So then the next Bielle from Swell :) Already much better than the Agricole. On the nose for me especially anise, also caramel and honey. On the palate somehow pencil shavings and milk. Many thanks Banana Joe, hope you can delight us in the future with more awesome Swells :)

Didn't impress me. Classic Bielle but with no great depth. Alcohol could also be better integrated. And just one nice bottle (also 0.5 l) doesn't justify the price.

#6785 13.05.2026 Having a few evening samples after picking up my wife from work and visiting a rum friend. Finally under 2000 samples in stock, though new supply is on the way. Watching "House of David" which I really like. This is a pretty decent release where the price tag is OK in my mind. A medium intense rum where the profile changes the longer you have it in your glass. A fruity agriculturan rum with some caramel, light salt, light tobacco and coffee in the roasted wood notes.

8,2:On the nose, the first impression we get is a juicy, herbaceous and grassy sugarcane honey, slightly earthy and flowery, with citrus fruits, some rubber, toasted wood with caramelized notes, spices like vanilla and anise. On aeration, green fruits like apple, pear arise, with yellow fruits, later plum, the cane is herbaceous, perhaps we notice some tobacco, as the wood gives us nuts, biscuits, pepper. 8,5:On the palate, the attack is tasty with minty sugar cane honey, tea and pencil shavings, the slightly roasted wood notes with nuts(walnuts), milk chocolate, later coffee, spicy with pepper, vanilla and fruits with orange peel, yellow fruits and later banana.On oxidation, the cane is candied, herbaceous and flowery, earthy with tobacco, mineral, darker with black tea and licorice. 8,2:The finish is medium long, slightly tannic, dry, as the sugarcane honey is grassy, mineral and flowery, later herbaceous, with some tea, the wood roasted, smoky with coffee, nuts, spicy with pepper, anise and we have dried, yellow and citrus fruits..

Tasting at RF 2025. 👃 Yellow orchard fruits, citrus, honeyed sweetness, caramelized sugar cane, vanilla, quite vegetal, plant, stem. 😋 Quite pronounced alcohol. Still yellow fruits and citrus, honey, sugar cane. The woodiness is more expressive, in the form of tea leaf, tobacco, licorice, vanilla, and nuts. ⛳ Freshness of citrus, kumquat, then quite bitter woodiness, tea, tannins, strong coffee, dryness. 💡 A classic Bielle, well made, without extravagance, quite simple on the palate.

Very vegetal on the nose and also on the palate, quite fresh. You immediately recognize that this is a rum based on sugarcane juice. Overall relatively little cask influence. I could imagine that I would like an older Bielle better.

No idea where to place this. Nose is fruity, nutty, toasted, slightly medicinal. On the palate also fruit, slightly nutty,... and also medicinal, but in a positive sense. Could be molasses or sugarcane juice. Definitely with some continental aging. 5-10 years old... Alcohol is super integrated. Edit: wow, Bielle. Would never have guessed.

To be honest, it was very hard to keep up with this bottling that evening. But thanks to Jakob’s outstanding Bally, it was clear that there are indeed different qualities of Agricoles. This one is rather one of the weaker ones.

Presented behind the stand at Rhum Fest Paris! A beautiful generous bielle on orange and citrus. Notes of cane, little wood, a bit of tobacco, coffee and an average finish that comes back to orange. Ultra drinkable.

Very pleasant and mild scent of fruits, lightly toasted and leather. On the palate quite sweet and yellow fruit. A bit caramelized. Finish is also pleasant. Nice easy sipper thing with a long finish.

This Bielle surprises me, but positively. On the nose it's quite gentle, almost sweet with predominantly yellow fruits, honey and vanilla. On the palate it quickly shifts from honey sweetness to woody, paired with milk chocolate, spice and some long-drawn tea. With a slight bitterness and spice it goes into the finish. Not typical for a Bielle at all, but very tasty 😋

A nose that lacks a bit of body, where you wonder how this rum can be 9 years old as it is so light and seems young. A mixed palate, very dry with nuts, yellow fruits and pencil shavings. The alcohol is not extremely well integrated. A more disappointing finish than usual.

Cologne-Bonn rum tasting: interesting rum, lots of sugarcane and grass, orange peel and yellow fruits, some nuts, but an unpleasant alcohol strength on the palate. All in all okay, but a rather poorer Sweel bottling.

Nose dominated by yellow fruits (plums), honey, vanilla, a bit of anise and floral notes. I like the nose well. On the palate a bit alcoholic and less fresh fruit compared to the nose. I like it better on the nose.

Slightly alcoholic nose, but it dissipates with enough standing time. Taste-wise I'd rather say Guyana (cardboard, a bit of pencil and slight bitterness), the whole harmonizes well with a light sweetness (yellow fruits). Absolutely fun overall.

Lots of sugarcane and ripe fruits on nose and taste. Finish rather anise and orange. The alcohol is very well integrated, maybe a bit of pepper in the finish. With water it gets sweeter and more sugarcane comes through.

Today a Bielle from Swell. Actually, they say what rhymes is good. That only partially applies here. Both on the nose and on the palate, typical Bielle notes appear. Unfortunately, the special something is missing, and the alcohol is not really well integrated. Thanks to Daniel for the sample.

Tasted at RhumFest Paris 2025. A new representative of the relatively young Bielle rums with a quite pronounced pastry side. The cane is still there. Caramel, yellow fruits. Discreet woodiness. Quite pleasant.

Relatively classic, this bielle comes across. Vanilla and honey on the nose. Sugarcane is clearly there. On the palate then it is spicy before a relatively mild orange note shows up. In the finish slightly bitter towards black tea with fine orange sweetness. Definitely pleasing, only the alcohol comes through a bit too strongly.

Positively surprised, personally. Rich yellow fruits, sweetness and some wood on the nose with only moderate associations to grasy Agricole notes. On the palate again rich fruity notes (fresh as well as dried). The finish could be a bit more round - here the grasy notes show up a bit more - yet overall an enjoyable experience.

Very many herbs and floral notes. Lots of tea and strong wood influence on the palate. The nose is very exciting and nicely varied. Reminds me of fennel, anise, caraway tea bag. On the palate young barrel influence with lots of bitterness. There is an alcoholic note present all the time. Creates burning impressions. Overall not my profile. Very dry and lots of pepper.

Intense profile with sugarcane, herbal-planty hints, dark spices, earthy tobacco notes, hazelnut, chocolate. The alcohol is still a bit bold in the finish, but the richness of aromas convinces on the palate. Appealing Bielle release.
