Several tasters found it harmonious and balanced but a touch too tame at 43% — an "easy sipper" more than a big statement. A few felt a birthday release should punch harder, though the toasted coconut and warm spice win people over.

Most helpful positive review
Great smooth rum with a balanced flavor profile of wood, spices and nutty notes, which can be classified somewhere between Belize and Barbados, with the typical English Harbour signature. Even the rather low ABV fits well. I liked it very much.

I agree with everything Chrischi78 wrote about this rum (and not because I have the sample he tasted 😉). Except that the rum has just the right amount of steam under the kettle. Nope, not enough for me. And that's why the rum doesn't break the 80-point barrier in my assessment. It's a really nice easy sipper, but I'm sure it would go through the roof in the ratings if it had noticeably more power.

#5947 09.11.2025 Having an online tasting with old friends covering, Denmark, Singapore, New Zealand and China. Hopefully we will all meet up in the beginning of the new year. This is a pretty average English Harbour at a slightly higher price than the average release. Wood and roasted notes with some fruits and caramel. A warm palate with some added nutts and apple.

As a "birthday release" rather a disappointment. Vanilla (sometimes more caramel), wood, nut, and spices are quite balanced from nose to finish. The alcohol is too weak in my opinion. Simply nothing special.

What can I say, not good, not bad. You have vanilla, caramel and some wood in nose and palate. Overall very unremarkable, rather unworthy of a birthday bottling, in my opinion. Sample is enough here.

8,1:On the nose, roasted wood notes with nuts, caramel, leather, spicy with vanilla, bump into our nosetrils, then candied fruits, yellow fruits and a toasted coconut. On aeration, dried fruits arise, some tobacco and more spiciness with cinnamon, nutmeg. 8,2:On the palate, the attack is light, but balanced with yellow fruits, toasted coconut, some orange and roasted wood notes like nuts, caramel, later burnt sugar, spicy with vanilla, pepper and cinnamon, slightly vegetal.When the rum is oxidized, leather, milk chocolate and raisins pop up. 7,9:The finish is rather bland, dry, medium long with roasted wood notes, spicy, dried apricots and coconut, some tobacco... I like the nose. Besides fruit and caramel, nutty and floral aromas also come through. The Antigua Distillery is easy to recognize. On the palate, it's a bit tame and light due to the 43%. The impressions from the nose are complemented by a slight pepper note. Not a flavor bomb but still pleasant - an easy zipper. The short to medium finish offers woody and nutty accents with some vanilla. Thanks to @Chrischi78 for the sample.

Delicate, really delicate woody vanilla-nutty flavour with a bit of caramel, lots of spices, pepper in the finish. Sensationally, I feel that it would like more alcohol. I am surprised by the rather long finish despite the low percentage. I was also intrigued by the slightly cloudy colour.

Solid Antigua rum. Overall still seems a bit young, although the 5 different types of casks have definitely left nice tannins and a nice spiciness and fruitiness. The alcohol content is kept a bit low, so it feels rather light and minimally diluted. A few % more would certainly have done it good. For the price, I expected more.

Typical beginner rum with a flat aroma profile, but still holds a pleasant coconut note in the background. Otherwise, as always with such bottlings, you have caramel, wood, dried fruits, and a slight alcoholic note.
