Some very discreet esters that enhance a rum that smells good of citrus fruits (orange peel, pink grapefruit). An explosive palate still on these same citrus fruits, but softened with a more vegetal side, with roots (gentian) and also more earthy notes far from unpleasant. A powerful and smooth length in the mouth. To taste again on occasion!

It's called Juice, tastes like Juice. Here you can especially recognize a whole lot of orange, which I don't really like, but it works here, it's not too intense. Otherwise, you can also detect various citrus fruits, but it's not for me.

#5818 02.10.2025 First samples after returning from Whisky Live, Paris 2025. Nose Fruity, orange, cardamom, earthy, light ester, fresh, light medicinal. Palate Fresh, fruity, spice, cinnamon, medium spicy, light sour, vegetal, light herbal. Finish Medium long, fresh, oily, light vegetal, citrus, medium spicy. Empty glass Vanilla, light medicinal, cinnamon, faint caramel.

👃 = I have citrus (orange, mandarin) with a mix of freshness and esters, a bit vinous and a bit woody as well as notes of butter, vanilla, and cinnamon. 👄 = The attack is pleasantly frank, opening on a full juice with the addition of dried fruits, pepper, a bit of bitterness, and herbal notes. The woody finish is fine and persistent. 🥳 The CSJ trio (Joey Starr, Ludovic Kpodar, and Guillaume Château) takes us on a really nice journey 😋

Really not the rum I like. I did not find at all the markers of some Australian rums that I liked a lot. Here I was really disturbed by its bitterness, even burning. You wait for something to happen and this astringent bitter side imposes itself until the end.

On the nose, it evokes a high-ester Jamaican, with lots of citrus (blood orange, grapefruit) and a lot of bitterness. The alcohol is present but not disturbing. On the palate, the bitterness is more marked, with lime, orange zest, and a very earthy, almost vegetal touch, reminiscent of curly endive. The finish is average, with a persistent bitterness, close to gentian. An interesting profile for lovers of bitterness, but a bit disturbing for me.

🇦🇺 Australia 2006 (52.1%) First single cask of the series. A nice promise on paper, but on the palate, a bitterness a bit too present spoiled the experience for me. Tasting at the Rhum Tour 2025 salon.
