Engenho Casa do Engenho 1889
Sip this neat and you're in whisky-adjacent territory: heavy, vegetal, a little smoky, with young oak and a thin line of vanilla. The cane-juice agricole side brings that earthy, fermented sting, and a few people pick up varnish or a medicinal edge. One taster compared it to Clement XO, others found the wood took over. A genuinely unusual non-cachaça Brazilian.
- Earthy vegetal cane
- Whisky-like character
- Unusual Brazilian agricole

Vůně příjemná bylinná, jablko nebo pečené jablko ala štrůdl, skořice. Chuťově hezky ovocný s bylinným nádechem. Závěr hřejivý, bylinky, ovoce, štrůdl, skořice, propsaný sud. Za mě fajn překvapení, lehce mi připomíná Clement XO.

24 days of rum #6. Pot-pourri and a hint of paint varnish. Golden pour. Maybe a little tangerine. Not bad and great to see non cachasa rum from Brazil. A little on the harsh side but smoothes out on the finish.

Sample no.6 of the 24 days of rum calendar 2024. Agricole rum on the nose and palate. Earthy vegetal notes with that fermented sugarcane juice sting.

I can only taste barrel. Not pleasant at all.

Read full review →Very nice craft rum. It is very heavy, vegetal and smoky. Reminds me a lot of whisky besides the agricole like taste.
