8,2:On the nose, toasted oak with nuts, pastry, spicy with vanilla and allspice, orange/citrus peel, dried apricots, tobacco, intense, slightly alcoholic, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, grapes, raisins and cherries arise, sherry finish is obvious, leather and burnt sugar, spicy nutmeg and ginger, metallic patina and herbaceous molasses. 8:On the palate, the attack is intense, slightly metallic, with toasted oak notes like burnt sugar, caramelized, pastry, spicy cinnamon, vanilla, ginger, peppery, barrel impact is obvious, sherry finish brings dried fruits like raisins and apricots, orange peel joins, leather, molasses is herbaceous, earthy with tobacco, candied. 8:The finish is medium long, dry&tannic, sweet with toasted oak notes like gingerbread, burnt sugar, pastry, coffee, leather, fruity with dried and citrus fruits, molasses is earthy with tobacco.

Cologne-Bonn rum tasting: the nose was quite alcoholic but this was balanced on the palate. Overall a very accessible rum with lots of dried fruits and caramel. Alcohol very well integrated and warm and long on the finish.

Classic Spanish style. Reminds me of the Diplomatico Single Vintages from my early days. Only much more expressive. Overall a very strong profile. The sweet wine cask gives it even more weight. A strong rum for strong nerves.
