8,5:On the nose, fruity with banana, pineapple, green, candied, medicinal with light esters, rubber, wax, fresh, floral molasses, vegetal with olive, roasted wood notes like chocolate, confectionery, spicy with allspice, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, fruits are fermented, citrus fruits, dried apricots and raisins come out, roasted nuts, caramel and vanilla join, molasses is dark with black tea. 8,3:On the palate, the attack is sweet, fruity with candied fruits, banana, pineapple, fermented, as cognac barrel impact brings dried fruits, medicinal with light esters, menthol, varnish, rubber, waxy, as molasses is vegetal with briny olive, flowery and wood toasted with caramel, chocolate, spicy with allspice. 8,4:The finish is long, dry&tannic, with roasted wood notes like caramel, chocolate, nuts, smoky and spicy, warm, fruits like dried, citrus, banana and vegetal molasses, grassy, cognac barrel impact brings leather. Unusual but exciting composition from the house of Savanna. Green, juicy olives in brine meet a light pleasant sweetness. Add to that some Cognac influences, dried fruits, and subtle woodiness. But green olives in sweetness, I've never tasted that in a rum before 😄

👃 Quite a few light markers (just-ripe tropical fruits, banana, pineapple), slight note of green olive, mild spices, the smell of pine needles on a hiking trail, light funky. 😋 Silky, sweet, balanced, buttery. Light caramel, small compote of fresh fruits, mostly yellow-fleshed tropical ones. A bit of ester. ⛳ Fairly lively spices, almost peppery, fruity haze, slight astringency, alcohol warmth relatively well integrated and comforting. Nice blend that combines a note of tropical fruits with a sufficiently pronounced funk. Available in Réunion around 80🍒, honest value for money.

A very pleasant Savanna, whose nose opens with woody, vanilla and sweet notes. A pronounced, very pleasant pastry character. Esters, ripe fruit. Engaging. The same markers are found on the palate, with a very pleasant spiciness. The alcohol level is ideal for me. Pleasant, sweet, fruity, caramelized, reassuring. A great success. Perhaps not the most complex of Savannas. But a rum to share.

Tasted at the Multi Verres Spirits fair in Lyon in February 2025: superb! Olive, fruity, well-integrated woodiness. It's balanced, easy to drink. Given the price, we want it in mainland France!

🔁 Back on a nice triplet recently tasted with my buddy Selvam: 🟠 Savanna – One Rum – 51% Savanna has already honored artists with its Artist Edition series (like the REPY signed edition, which I will talk about just after). Here, even though this One Rum bottling is not officially part of it, it is still the local artist Oneshoz who signed the label. And honestly, I find the visual result very successful! On the juice side, we are on a TH1 mark: a blend of traditional 5-year-old rum (distilled in Savalle C20 column) and 7-year-old HERR aged, all refined in ex-Cognac barrels. A limited bottling of 1,500 bottles, at 51% ABV. 👃 Nose Very fruity right from the start, with a ripe pineapple in the spotlight, and that little expected touch of green olive. The wood is well integrated, with soft notes of tobacco, licorice, and a hint of toasted toast. 👅 Palate Again fruits in the front line: almost fermented pineapple, greener banana. Then shifts to a more HERR register with brine, a hint of strawberry tagada, intense vanilla, medicinal herbs, and a bitter licorice that softens in length. 📝 In short A pleasure rum, accessible but well built. Simple and gourmand nose, richer and more complex palate. The marriage between traditional, HERR and ex-Cognac works wonderfully. A 2025 edition that makes you want to see what the future holds!
