Edit: my likes are gone? Edit In MaiTai and CubaLibre really a top piece, but also neat it got me. Super selected Stefan. Short ester impression when filling the sample. I quite like it. Will be tasted again calmly neat and in MaiTai and rating updated.

A good successor to the previous bottling. The storage in sweet wine barrels has helped it surprisingly well without leaving the typical penetrating taste. The smell is still noticeable. Nevertheless, not quite as good as its predecessor.

A good Hampden in which the immediately eye-catching >71% is well integrated. The sherry finish then catches the second eye. This is rather discreet on the palate and comes into its own in the finish. A good bottling that has definitely earned its right to exist.

Young, continental Hampden with sherry maturation. Not exactly my cup of tea in terms of the key data 😂 but quite decent. I miss the tropical maturation component on the tongue, but it's still quite decent and certainly a good mixer.

8,6:On the nose, esters, solvents, rubber, briny olive, fermented tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, dried apricots(wine hints), buttery, roasted wood notes like marzipan, caramel, sweet, spicy with allspice, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, new smoky, roasted notes arise like peanuts, perhaps roasted hazelnuts, cookie dough, pastry, some bacon, raisins and citrus fruits join, molasses is dark with licorice, grassy with hay. 8,6:On the palate, the attack is warm, funky with esters, solvents, fruity with tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, sherry barrel impact dried fruits like raisins, apricots, later red fruits and maracuja, slightly acidic, our tasting buds are occupied with dairy like cream, buttery, sweet honey, roasted wood notes like caramel, nuts, spicy, peppery, as the molasses is dark with licorice, flowery, vegetal with briny olive. 8,4:The finish is medium long, dry&tannic, medicinal with esters and glue, grassy, earthy molasses, dark with licorice, fruity with dried, tropical fruits, as the oak is roasted, smoky, spicy. What a start to the year. Wonderful Hampden, high energy in the glass with 71,3Vol%, but super integrated, great aromas of yellow fruits and a nice warm sweetness! The finish is accompanied by subtle tobacco notes!

It's crazy how well the alcohol is integrated here for just 5 years of maturation. For once, the sherry cask is not too dominant and gives the Hampden enough room to come into its own without becoming too sweet. Typical Hampden funk with a pleasant acidity like passion fruit meets roasted, slightly bacony, salted smoked almonds. I like it surprisingly well although I was rather skeptical here due to the key data!

Surprisingly accessible for a 5-year-old. Great fruity, intense estery funk pours out of the glass. Nice play between sweetness (honey), tropical fruits (yellow) and honey. The finish is a little alcoholic and warming but really ok for 71%. I like it

Tasted blind at the end of a lineup. No problem guessing it's a Hampden high ester. The alcohol degrees are still a bit felt. Good fruitiness, glue, and a bit of marzipan (maybe the cask).

Now this is Rum and Sherry cask done right in my book. On the nose you the the full Hampden <>H experience with only little influence from the Olorosso cask. I‘m not sure, I‘d recognize the cask if I didn’t know. On the palate the bottling is quite brutal with lots of flavor and intensity. Pretty much in the edge of what I‘d say is enjoyable for neat sipping. Here I get more notes from the Olorosso which are in no way overwhelming but nicely supplementing the Hampden profile. Good stuff!

Pleasant Hampden, but can't compete with the 2014 <>H from Bottleshop. Classic ester notes, with an interesting sherry influence, which however remains in the background. For the high ABV it is super integrated. Will try it as a mixer soon.

Wow, powerful stuff! I don't have more than 70% in my glass every day either, and often those are strange bottlings that only aim for the highest possible proof. But here I don't get that feeling; the high ABV really packs a punch. Although quite sharp, the alcohol is well integrated and, if you know how to handle it and don't flood your whole mouth, very drinkable. The finish also makes sense to me, as it is not dominant at all but does bring aroma to the rum. I rarely say that about a finish, especially with young Hampdens with wine, sherry, or other grape finishes. The Mark <>H also comes out nicely here; alongside the classic Hampden esters, there's a grassy-herbal tea plant character that I find typical for this mark. Nice cask selection, compliments to Stefan!

A young and quite wild <>h from the house of Hampden. On the nose outstandingly fruity with pineapple, esters, and typical Hampden profile. On the palate quite “wild”… the 71% are well integrated but don’t pass unnoticed. Letting it sit for 30 minutes helps... Still pretty cool for only 5 years. Certainly a great mixer… but too expensive for that.

You pour it into a glass and immediately know where you are. Funky, fruity, ester - typical Hampden. But one thing surprises me here, this macadamia note I haven't had with Hampden before. Brutal on the palate, but at 71% ABV that's no surprise. Great bottling from the Bottle Shop, that's how Jamaica should be.

Nose: Ester and tropical fruits. There's also a slight sweetness. Taste: similar to the nose. Again a good amount of ester and fruits. At first, for me, a bit less sweet than the nose suggests. But that changes with more time in the glass. Towards the end, I taste something slightly sour-bitter. You can notice the alcohol (which is not surprising at 71.3%) but it's not really disturbing. Overall a nice bottling, though I don't need a whole bottle. I hardly notice the sherry finish - I guess only through the sweetness. Certainly interesting as a mixer but for that, it's (still) too expensive for me.

On the nose esters, fresh tropical fruits with pineapple in the lead, a bit of smoke. The palate is a typical young Hampden with depth and sweetness brought by the oloroso cask. The alcohol is very well integrated. Nevertheless, a good part of tropical aging would have given it another dimension. Decent finish. A good product, very interesting because usually I avoid oloroso casks. Here this cask choice is perfect. Good choice Stefan!

A house full of esters and pineapple and of course solvents immediately after opening. The Marka <> H is among my favorites and it was confirmed here too. With its alcohol strength, it’s not a drink for everyone (which Hampden isn’t anyway), but that strength perfectly complements the tropical taste of bananas, pineapple, all in great sweetness. The tongue produces as much saliva as possible and I just enjoy this tropical funky Jamaica full of fruit.

Good funk :) very very pleasant, a punch. On the nose, the spicy esters with aroma of apricot. On the palate, complex also with apricot. The alcohol is surprisingly well integrated for its 71%. Finish nicely long.

Despite the high alcohol this has a lot of drinkability. It saves the relativ high acidity, in 50% this would surely be too much . Enjoy this on drops...
