Edit In MaiTai and in CubaLibre really a great piece, but it also picked me up on its own. Great choice Stefan. Short first impression when filling the sample. I like it quite well. I'll taste it again neat and in the MaiTai and update the rating.

What a start to the year. Wonderful Hampden, high energy in the glass with 71,3Vol%, but super integrated, great aromas of yellow fruits and a nice warm sweetness! The finish is accompanied by subtle tobacco notes!

What a great piece! Despite the hefty percentages, the alcohol is well integrated. The finish is perfect, not too dominant. Hammer rum!

Angenehmer Hampden, welcher sich aber nicht gegen den 2014 <>H von Bottleshop durchsetzen kann. Klassische Esternoten, mit einem interessanten Sherryeinfluss, welcher jedoch im Hintergrund bleibt. Für die hohe ABV ist sie super eingebunden. Wird demnächst Mal als Mixer ausprobiert.

Dům plný esterů a ananasu a samozřejmě i rozpouštědel ihned po otevření. Marka <> H patří mezi mé oblíbené a i tady se to potvrdilo. Alkoholovostí to nebude pití pro každého (což vlastně Hampden tak jako tak není) ale ta síla se parádně doplňuje s tropickou chutí banánů, ananasu, vše v parádní sladkosti. Jazyk produkuje sliny co to jde a já si jen užívám tuhle tropickou funky Jamajku plnou ovoce.

A good Hampden in which the immediately eye-catching >71% is well integrated. The sherry finish then catches the second eye. This is rather discreet on the palate and comes into its own in the finish. A good bottling that has definitely earned its right to exist.

Surprisingly accessible for a 5-year-old. Great fruity, intense estery funk pours out of the glass. Nice play between sweetness (honey), tropical fruits (yellow) and honey. The finish is a little alcoholic and warming but really ok for 71%. I like it

Wow, starkes Gerät! Mehr als 70% habe ich auch nicht jeden Tag im Glas und oft sind es auch seltsame Abfüllungen, bei denen es nur um möglichst hohe Prozente geht. Hier habe ich aber nicht das Gefühl, sondern der hohe ABV macht ordentlich Dampf. Zwar durchaus scharf, ist der Alkohol dennoch gut eingebunden und, sofern man damit umzugehen weiß und nicht den ganzen Mund flutet, sehr gut trinkbar. Ebenso ergibt das Finish für mich Sinn, da es überhaupt nicht dominant ist, aber durchaus Aroma in den Rum bringt. Selten sage ich so etwas über ein Finish, vor allem bei jungen Hampdens mit Wein-, Sherry- oder sonstigen Trauben-Finishes. Das Mark <>H kommt hier auch schön zum Vorschein, neben den klassischen Hampden-Estern zeigt sich eine grasig-Kräutertee Pflanzlichkeit, die für mich typisch für dieses Mark ist. Schöne Fassauswahl, Kompliment an Stefan!

Ein junger und recht wilder <>h aus dem Hause hampden. An der Nase überragend fruchtig mit Ananas., Ester und typischen hampden Profil. Am Gaumen dann recht „wild“…die 71% sind schon gut integriert, aber sie gehen nicht spurlos vorbei. 30 Minuten stehen lassen hilft weiter…. Trotzdem recht geil für nur 5 Jahre. Sicherlich ein toller Mixer…dafür aber zu teuer.

It's crazy how well the alcohol is integrated here for just 5 years of maturation. For once, the sherry cask is not too dominant and gives the Hampden enough room to come into its own without becoming too sweet. Typical Hampden funk with a pleasant acidity like passion fruit meets roasted, slightly bacony, salted smoked almonds. I like it surprisingly well although I was rather skeptical here due to the key data!

Au nez des esters, des fruits tropicaux frais avec de l ananas en tête, un peu de fumée. La bouche est un jeune hampden typique avec une profondeur et une sucrosité amenées par le fut d oloroso. L alcool est très bien intégré. Néanmoins une bonne partie en vieillissement tropical lui aurait apporté une autre dimension. Finale correcte. Un bon produit, très intéressant car habituellement je fuis les fûts d oloroso. Ici ce choix de fut est parfait. Bon choix Stefan !

Young, continental Hampden with sherry maturation. Not exactly my cup of tea in terms of the key data 😂 but quite decent. I miss the tropical maturation component on the tongue, but it's still quite decent and certainly a good mixer.

A good successor to the previous bottling. The storage in sweet wine barrels has helped it surprisingly well without leaving the typical penetrating taste. The smell is still noticeable. Nevertheless, not quite as good as its predecessor.
