Was happy to see Bedford Park offer their rums in the Canadian market and this was one of 4 bottles I ordered from their inaugural release. This has a crisp fruit note, like apples, with notable wood, a general freshness and a light agricole quality. There’s honey, sugarcane and vanilla in here too. Tasting this was just as good - fresh, nice sweetness, woody and some spice. This one is very approachable and suave. It has nice complexity and balance and makes for a very pleasant experience even if it doesn’t have one quality to hang its hat on. Perhaps that quality is value - since this one comes in around $100 CAD and very much punches above its price point. Now if only I had purchased two…

My favourite agricole I’ve tried so far. In the nose there are pastries, sweetness, vanilla, freshness and figs. On the palate there is sweetness, sugarcane, vegetable, spice (which focuses on clove), and wood. There is a long finish of sugarcane freshness.

A great value rum and a very approachable introduction to aged juice. Extremely well integrated abv, orchard fruit plus a few hedgerow berries, enough wood to have an influence and enough cane to keep things interesting. Cane juice is clear but not distracting, barrel spice is there but it's perfectly balanced. An abv that can take water if desired, but doesn't need it. Enough complexity to keep things interesting for cane juice veterans but enough approachability to not exclude the curious.

25/04/25: Bedford Park tasting with Stijn. Oh what a beauty and very nice surprise! I like this agricole from Saint James! The nose is already very inviting, but the palate is crazy good, complex and delicious. Price to quality ratio is exceptional with this one.

Another home run from IB Raising Glasses. With all the new releases they have a seriously diverse profile that highlights fun aging of distinct profiles of rum. This one was well balanced in its herbal and grassy notes with some barrel influence.
