Since available in Germany (2012?) my go-to forever-stock daily Rum Cola or Cuba mixer. That it was reduced to 37.5% and supposedly tastes worse (never tried old one neat) I couldn't tell in the cola, if I hadn't stumbled upon it via YouTube, I probably never would have noticed ;-). Even neat it's drinkable, I guess I just prefer the darker Havana Club flavor notes (more woody, dry, rummy, Cuban, less fruity), especially from the 7 and the Especial is a small version of that.. Drinks: - Neat: 3.5/5 - Rum Cola: 4/5 - Rum Mule: 3/5 - Rum Punch: 3.5/5

For a destined mixer rum you can actually drink it near but it’s definitely not a memorable experience

Surprised me. I expected a plain and not intersting taste. But it is oaky, sweet but not over sweeted. Finish is short but really good.

The nose is barrel and acetone. Plastic and rubber. Soft notes of barrel. Chemichal notes fighting with the barrel notes. The flavors are quite smooth. Sweet. Too sweet. Zero burn with soft notes of spice and honey and caramel. Sweetness lingers and makes it easy to drink with a slimey( sounds harsh to say) finish.

This rum is mainly for mixing. When drunk neat, it loses its flavor very quickly. It doesn't have many notes of wood and mainly tastes like alcohol.
