Opinions here run all over the map, and that's the real story. Nobody blind-tastes this as a Trinidad TDL — the usual house character just isn't there. Instead you get coconut, brown caramel and toasted oak, with chocolate on the palate. Some found it warm and gourmand; others called it flat, and one member flatly dubbed it "wood juice." The alcohol pokes through for a few tasters too.

Ouch 🤕 Nose : close to nothing Mouth : Very very thin, watery, sweet. It's wood juice. I wish I could tell nice thing about this rum but I can't. Reminds me of the latest "cheap" TDL from Vallinch and Mallet, not a compliment.

The nose isn't so bad, though not typical TDL. I also think I detect a slight wine note here. On the palate I find it a bit sour and would guess it aged in a wine cask (Madeira!?). For me, unfortunately no TDL DNA recognizable and overall it doesn't quite grab me.

The second one today again a T.D.L. After the first impression, I would never have thought this was a T.D.L. The nose only fruity, some coconut is recognizable. On the palate first impression: chocolate and caramel. Over time, wood and also slight mint appeared.

TDL?!?! If anything, one of the lousy bottlings... this one doesn't offer even the slightest hint of the known TDL aromas. Somehow it's relatively flat and one-dimensional. Primarily, I perceive wood, alcohol, and spices. That's definitely too little.

Is this a TDL? Blind, I would never have guessed. Typical notes are completely missing. Coconut rather suggests Barbados or Belize. Good and solid rum, but doesn't fully grab me.

Interesting rum, but the alcohol is already too present on the nose. Otherwise, lots of caramel, coconut, a spice combo that I don't particularly like, tropical fruits, and wood. As mentioned, the alcohol isn't very well integrated.

The nose is intense and complex right from the start. This rum offers dominant notes of brown caramel, muscovado sugar, and dark honey followed by candied fruits (orange, dried apricot). An elegant woody hint of toasted oak, vanilla, and a light touch of roasted coffee continues with a spicy background (cinnamon, nutmeg) and a hint of cocoa. The nose is warm, indulgent but structured. On the palate, you discover a broad and round attack, with a beautiful controlled power. A lovely explosion of toffee, dark chocolate, dried fruits (walnut, roasted almond) becomes clear, then you feel the wood expressing itself with elegance, bringing structure and depth. The balance between natural sweetness and spices is very successful, and you can feel a rich, almost velvety texture. You find a true tasting rum signature: complex, evolving, with a beautiful aromatic persistence. The finish is long, warm, and enveloping, with a return to soft spices and toasted wood, a slight noble bitterness at the end of the mouth (cocoa and coffee) with a persistent and comforting sensation.
