... Hampden, legendary Jamaican distillery, which besides rum also produces alcohol for perfumes. In all rums from this distillery you can feel wild esters, after which your whole body soaks in the scent of yellow tropical fruits - mango, papaya, pineapple, peach. One of the rums you "must try before you die".

My second bottle is now coming to an end. A simple Jamaican that has everything you need to introduce newcomers to rum from Jamaica. It also delivers well in the vola direction and has a very good PLV. However, I now give it 0.3 points less than 2 years ago.

#4665 23.03.2024 Relaxing at home after picking up two sets of online tasting in Flensburg. At the same time planning what to bring to Blåvand when I visit a fellow RumX from Germany. Nose Light, light wood, faint smoke, ester, fruity, light glue. Palate Light, light wood, faint roasted, fruity, sweet. Finish Short, light, light wood, sweet, fruits. Not really me but I think you get what you pay for. The empty glass has citrus and dried fruit.

A good rum, I like the Artesanals. On the nose you have tropical fruits, esters and a slight glue smell. On the palate then an alcoholic taste comes in and I also think a slight coffee note. Alcohol well integrated. Top.

On the nose very classic Jamaican: high estery pineapples. Intense but light in wood and style. Not a bad start. Taste: a lot more watery than expected. Yet all the flavours are here. Dry. This might actually be a great gateway to the more funky Jamaican rum for starters. It doesn't hold back on the esters but is a bit too watered down. This would be great at 46 or 48%

Mild Jamaican nose with hints of glue. As expected, a relaxed Jamaican rum on the palate, with an exciting light note of stewed plums and cinnamon. A lovely sweetish banana note on the finish. Overall, a relaxed rum with a top PLV. A great introduction to Jamaica, perfect for mixing in the cuba

Just a good entry point in terms of price-performance ratio for anyone who hasn't had a Jamaican in their glass yet. The funky taste is nowhere near as intense as with the Hampdens but still clearly noticeable. Especially good for visitors to determine their tastes before the good rum ends up untouched.

Average, maybe expected a bit more... but mostly makes me curious about other RA expressions. I think this is "just" an entry-level, also in the Jamaican profile. The smell is sweeter than the taste and I miss some depth in it. The finish is disappointing.

Mild Jamaican with hints of glue. Also on the palate as expected a relaxed Jamaican rum, interesting is a slight note of plum-cinnamon compote. In the finish a nice sweet banana note. Overall a relaxed rum with a top price-performance ratio. Great Jamaica entry, but for the more experienced drinker a bit too “watery”.

A good but inconspicuous rum. The 40% is quite weak, on the other hand a higher alcohol content probably wouldn't bring much because there is little substance that could be carried by the alcohol.

Nose light Jamaican; tongue mild, a bit Jamaican, sweetness, raisin, but somehow all fits well together, goes well neat, surely good for mixing too, great value for money!

Very pleasant introductory nose in Jamaica. Glue, banana, fruit, young wood. Basically everything you want to convey to the interested beginner. The taste continues the same way. Soft and pleasant in sweetness, various fruits like banana and plum come through clearly. Weak in funk, but it has to be that way here. Short finish that surprisingly dries out at the end. Great introduction to the topic, also exciting to introduce people to fruitier rum cocktails. Addendum: compared to TECA and WPH it seems absurdly flat and sweet. Still a nice entry and as someone else mentioned here: very good to test guests' taste.

Nice tropical fruity nose, but quite noticeably watered down on the palate. Overall solid for getting into Jamaican rum. Can be enjoyed casually. Good value for money but I think you can spend a few more euros and go straight for the Plantation Xaymaca.

Smells , tinned peaches , funk tobacco smoke . Slight taste of lowered down wray and nephew .light funk that doesn't be long on the finish .. Really good for people who enjoy the taste of Jamica but don't like th massive hit of cask funks ..
