Warm, gourmand nose of chocolate, caramel and toasted oak. On the palate, the slightly harsh attack (wild berries) evolves into a gourmet taste with Belizean accents: dark chocolate, caramel and toasted wood. The soft finish on toffee and coconut, with a discreet Hampden finish, offers a less astringent Nicaragua than usual.

#5862 14.10.2025 Enjoying some evening samples while slouching in front of the TV. Nose Round, woody, light roasted, light tobacco, spice, dried fruit, fruity, faint coconut, light chocolate. Palate Fresh, warm, wood, light roasted, faint coconut, light nutts, dried, fruit, faint tobacco, vanilla, light chocolate. Finish Medium long, round, warm, wood, light chocolate, light coconut. Empty glass Vanilla, chocolate, dried fruit, light caramel.

Blind tasting. Warm, gourmand notes on the nose: chocolate/caramel, toasted cask, reminiscent of certain Belize wines. The palate begins with harshness, like wild berries. The sweetness returns with dark chocolate, caramel and wood. The palate fades to a coconut toffee caramel sweetness. I'm not usually a fan of Nicaragua, which I find a little too astringent, but here the sweetness takes over.

Powerful and indulgent woody notes that turn into super roasted cocoa with a beautiful and long finish on this taste. New tasting, I lower the rating a bit because the jam is a bit too present for me. I prefer a 100% Nicaragua profile.

ZODIAC 2024 – LION – Nicaragua 17 years – Finish Hampden H – 61.5% Tasted in a masterclass in Lille. All round, coconut, caramel, fruity, and a big chocolate. Many appreciated it, me too even if it’s not my profile, it’s very well made.
