Overripe banana, pineapple and a streak of varnish lead the way, wrapped in a buttery, honeyed body that keeps this Hampden DOK rounder than you'd expect from a 2-year-old at 84.7%. Roasted pineapple carries the palate, with light caramel and wood behind it. The alcohol is fierce but, as most tasters note, remarkably well integrated — you genuinely don't feel the full proof until the warm finish.

#5825 04.10.2025 Warming up before going to the Nobilis Warehouse Tasting #3. Nose Intense, light wood, faint roasted, fruity, overripe, ester, light caramel, polish, citrus, light banana. Palate Intense, light wood, fruity, overripe, ester, light vanilla, oily, light roasted, light solvents, faint glue, banana. Finish Long and warm, intense, light wood, fruity, ester, banana, light chocolate, light glue. Empty glass Fruits, polish, faint smoke, spice, chocolate. Needs to rest for a good while before you give it a go.

Tasted without much conviction at the Caen Spirits Festival. It's extreme in every way: young, alcoholic, ester-heavy. Sure, you wouldn't think you're drinking a rum over 80°, but it's still burning. Indeed, a pleasant buttery side. But I really don't understand the point of this bottling.

Tasted at the Multi Verres Spirits fair in Lyon in February 2025: for me, it was the revelation of the fair. Butter, caramel, light wood accompanying fresh fruits. Obviously powerful but not that much. Everyone loved it!

Very good, very round and powerful in alcohol but well integrated! Very marked and very present esters! I love it! It smells like Jamaica. You can recognize the Hampden house with its pineapple and freshness! I would have bet on an HLCF but no! After Carole finds the house Yohan told me it was the DOK from Ricci! What a nice surprise! Curiously I thought of Ricci why? Maybe because of the roundness they manage to get with very powerful rums! Great discovery! Thanks Yohan!

The nose really makes you want to try it! Loads of fruit, with a floral honey side. A slight vinegar note too. It smells like dok. The palate is explosive, the alcohol is very well integrated. I would still have preferred 15 degrees inside me. A bottle to have for fun and to sniff from time to time.

Bought to see what the Ricci house could offer at a very high alcohol strength and I was really not disappointed. Used to Jamaican rums, I knew what to expect from a Dok especially at this rather rare alcohol proof, and yet I still managed to be surprised. On the nose, you find very ripe banana with a kind of honey and solvent in the background. On the palate, it's an explosion, the alcohol is perfectly controlled and it's a multitude of fruits around a very present roasted pineapple. The finish is quite long, you can guess a bit of the alcohol in the background but it remains very good. A very beautiful experience, but impossible to move on to anything else after it.

Obviously a very beautiful rum full of richness and intensity, nice fruits, caramel and wood, intensity far from overwhelming for those familiar with it, very good!
