Glue, varnish and nail polish hit first — then bacon, olive brine and citrus in a wild, chemical rush that a couple of tasters even mistook for Clairin. This Le Galion grand arôme is loud and a bit young, but the cask keeps the high-ester power in check. Sweet and peppery on the palate with overripe tropical fruit and a smoky, woody finish. Very special, and it knows it.

8,5:On the nose, medicinal with esters, varnish, glue, solvents, funky, fermented fruits, vegetal notes like tomatoes, cucumber, flowery, dairy with cheese, pungent, rotten, roasted wood notes with bacon, barrel impact is obvious, citrus fruits, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, tropical fruits arise, rubber, wax, some honeycomb, grassy, hay-ish tones, burnt sugar and pastry. 8,4:On the palate, the attack is sweet with honeycomb, roasted wood notes like burnt sugar, caramel, spicy with pepper, vanilla, funky, medicinal with esters, glue, nail polish, fermented with dairy like cheese, tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, red, citrus fruits, pungent, rotten, vegetal with olive, grassy. 8,4:The finish is medium long, dry, with toasted wood notes like caramel, nuts, bacon, smoky, spicy, fresh sugar cane with tea, vegetal, earthy, fruity with overripe tropical, red, citrus and yellow fruits, pungent, medicinal. A very intense grand aroma, very wild on the palate. Sweet, fruity, astringent, esters, some wood and vanilla play somewhat unruly on the drums. I like it very much because of its grand aromas. Many thanks @RumTaTa for the sample

Messebewertung. Für mich ein definitiv unterbewerteter Grand Arome mit intensiven Frucht-, Ester- und Olivenaromen welche sich von Nase bis Abgang konstant durchziehen. Die offene Flasche braucht etwas ihre Zeit das komplette Aromenspektrum zu entfalten

Verdict: maybe youthful, but distinctive. Sweet, overripe, ester, and a bit of wood. I like it. 82 points. Nose: a nice combination of pineapple, pickled lemon, putty, vanilla, nailpolish remover, a bit roasted, fennel seed, and eucalyptus. Palate: Broody, very round, overripe banana and pineapple, roasted, wood, vanilla milkshake, grass, menthol, fennel seed. Finish: long, a bit spicy (pepper) but also sweet, on overripe tropical fruit, menthol, and varnish. Just a hint of the woody and vanilla now.

I have to admit an interesting bottling that I can't immediately compare to anything from my memory. If you love glue, you will probably like it. For me, however, not really something I need to have again.

Once again a great Galion bottling! If you like the profile, you'll surely enjoy this! But I can also understand if you don't like the profile. It's just very special. It's like with LP TECA...

Overall the bottling cannot hide its relative young age. Yet the notes from the cask nicely balance the power of the La Galion high ester destilate. There is ample funk with overripe fruits, olive grime and chemical notes on the nose as well as on the palate.

Classic Grand Arome markers on the nose and palate. Everything very round and balanced. Dried fruits like raisins, a bit of wood stain, but not as extreme as with Savanna. Medium-long finish, mainly with raisins and dried plum. For me, a very tasty one and totally underrated here.

Where did this sample come from? Wasn't registered at all. The nose very funky with lacquer and le... glue. On the palate then rather sharper nail polish. Rum with character and extremely funky at the start. Nice.

Überraschendes Fundstück. Grand Arôme Melasserum von Le Galion mit leichtem Bourbon-Finish. Erinnert mich sehr an The Spirit Traveller No.6, welcher 9 Monate im Banyuls-Fass reifte. Schon mit dem Einschenken strömen die Geruchsnoten durch den Raum und ziehen einen nahezu vollständig in den Bann - ich wollte das Glas gar nicht mehr aus der Hand geben. Im Gegensatz zu Jamaica Estern (fruchtig) kommt hier trotz Melassebasis eine vegetabile Olivenlake-Note an, welche so Manchen zunächst an Agricole erinnern würde, dies ist jedoch ein Trugschluss. Dazu gesellt sich eine speckige, ja fast Umami-Note, die erst spät im Nachhall durch gelbes Steinobst ersetzt wird. Konnte nach der Verkostung noch rund 20 Minuten im Mund wahrgenommen werden.
