The nose leans unusually fruity for the style — candied raisins, maraschino cherry, marzipan, a little smoke and red pepper. On the palate it turns vegetal and funky, overripe red fruit with a vinegar edge that several tasters found distracting. At 48% the alcohol sits well; the finish is where it thins out.

6,5:On the nose, sweet sugar cane juice, vegetal with red bell peppers, herbaceous, floral, candied fruits, vinegar, slightly synthetic, peppery, nutty, some marzipan might be recognized. 6,1:On the palate, the attack is vegetal with saffran, red bell peppers, cereal, some chilli, floral, spicy with pepper, slightly smoky, funky, as the red, citrus fruits are fermented, overripe, sour with vinegar. 6,2:The finish is medium length, sweet with candied fruits, confectionery, smoky, nutty, peppery wood, vegetal with red bell peppers, fruity with citrus fruits.

#6869 30.05.2026 The wife went to bed and now I can enjoy a few more samples in an effort to reduce the huge stack I have. Listening to some tracks by Exminds, Jo Cartwright, Andain, Costa and Maria Naylar. This one is not really me and I know it can be used for a large range of things, like cooking and baking. A powerful profile with overripe fruits, sugarcane, herbs and spices. I have travelled in Indonesia and when you enjoy it locally with local food the experience is very different.

This arrack is really not bad either. The nose is relatively similar to the previous one, very vegetal and floral. On the palate also slightly vegetal, also somehow funky, fermented but also slightly overripe.

Once again an outstanding tasting that Artur organized superbly. Many thanks for the introduction to the world of Arra(c)k. The blends are truly a challenge for the taste buds. But what really surprised me was this BASF bottling. My deepest respect for the time and effort that is repeatedly invested there. A real honor to be able to participate in such tastings again and again.

Arra(c)k 2.0 tasting by Artur. A very soft nose, candied cherries, red fruits but rather on the artificial aromas side. Pepper and acidity. Real aromas on the palate, esters, intensity, red fruits. The finish is moderately long, the longest so far with a sweet side of candy and syrup. A slightly smoky woody side completes the whole.

Definitely recognizable as Batavia Arrack, although unusually fruity on the nose with candied raisins, maraschino cherries, marzipan and some smoke and red pepper. On the palate then red pepper and some red fruit jelly with vinegar, smoke and saffron added. The acidity is somewhat disturbing overall but the 48% is very well integrated!

Arrac(k)-Tasting 2.0 by Artur. An exciting tasting journey with an impressive range of styles and profiles. From smoky to fruity to spicy, everything was represented – partly a bit unbalanced, partly surprisingly round. Especially some bottlings showed a lot of character and depth and stayed in memory. A format that is really fun. Thanks Artur for the opportunity! 😊

This time with raisins, unfortunately quite sour towards the end. Arra(c)k Attack 2.0 tasting with Artur all the way through, from really nasty blends to surprisingly good representatives, all included. Great journey to this spirit completely unknown to me until now.

Sporer of Salzburg again on the verge of greatness. Good profile, candy cherry and raisin, but the intensity is too sour, the Ende to simple. I really want to like this more. But it is still not bad. Just lacking in a drink also
