A nice unfiltered rum with a nice sharp taste.

A Caroni with a nose that is really strongly reminiscent of an Agricole. In the mouth, first typical rubber and tar notes followed by herbal aromas and ending with a fine honey sweetness. The finish is quite bitter and burnt, with aromas of berries and a few herbs. Delicious drop for one to whom the high end Caronis will remain largely hidden 😉.

Nose: More pleasing than the little brother at 63.1%. Chocolate, coffee and tropical fruit, only very discreet rubber. Palate: Present, long-lasting attack of alcohol. Then rubber, tar, herbs as well as spicy flavors. Finish: Bitter and rubber, but also a touch of cola. Verdict: The nose pleases more than the weaker brother. More intense alcohol on the palate at the start. Full-bodied and round.

The typical '97 Caroni nose: petroleum, burning rubber, gasoline, tobacco and also orange zest. On the palate then at first a short pleasant sweetness, which quickly turns into spiciness and also slight bitterness. Also dried fruits like dates or plums I can make out. The finish is dominated by the aromas from the nose and maybe also a little dark chocolate. As a comparison candidate I took the A.D. Rattray Caroni 17yo in CS (for me the reference Caroni from 1997). The SBS is definitely a good rum, but unfortunately for me it doesn't reach the ADR – neither on the nose nor on the palate. It is not quite as complex and heavy as the ADR and for me also somewhat "columnar", if you can say that ;-). Nevertheless definitely a very good rum. 86 points.
