Give this one an hour in the glass before you judge it — a vegetal, almost fermented note blows off first, then the real Port Mourant shows up: licorice, pepper, wet oak, anise and herbs, with a bit of dried fruit and coffee behind. At 61.4% it runs hot and spirit-forward, and several tasters felt a few more years in the barrel would have rounded it off. Divisive.

Quite a positive surprise. On the nose the expected heavy notes but then also a fresh note of herbs? green bell pepper??. On the palate then a well integrated alcohol with the same changing flavors of coffee, wood and toasted barrel and a fresh anise/herbs/menthol note (am still on green peppers too). finish like my grandma's peppernuts, with anise and nutmeg.

Not my cup of tea at all. Somehow intrusive, less on the nose than on the palate. I can't drink it, it goes down the sink. I'm sorry.

Netter Rum, finde ihn weitaus besser als die Bewertungen meinen. Ein sehr guter Guyana jedenfalls, sehr dunkel, Würze und Holz stechen hier hervor, außerdem heben wir noch Fass, Karamell und etwas Pfeffer.

Interesting rum, but that doesn't mean it's good. The nose hints at Guyana, but it's mainly Willy that dominates. Very spicy/peppery on the palate with a strong wood/barrel influence. Also some caramel and herbs.

Well, this Port Mourant has the basic characteristics .... And that's about it. Too bad, I suppose a little more time in the barrel would have done it good. But who knows!

Well, I don't think it's quite as bad as I read here in advance. The markers are already clearly recognizable. I didn't necessarily find it alcoholic. It's probably because I had to do something shortly after I poured it and it spent a little more time in the glass than usual. I think a little more time in the barrel would have done it good though.

com‘on guys, not that bad. It has a nice and quite complex nose, not a typical PM or demerara, but a nice flavor of yello fruits, pear 🍐and abricot Obstler. Easy sipper on the palate with a nice amaretto touch. Medium finish.

Beautiful PM markers on the nose with olive, aniseed, herbs, clove, somehow almost a little overloaded, like a 'PM concentrate'. A little tangy on the palate. Behind that, spice, barrel. With a few drops of water it becomes a little less rough, but also loses intensity. I think a few more years in the barrel would have had the greatest effect here.

Der Rum benötigt etwas Anlaufzeit, denn der erste Eindruck aus dem Glas - bereits nach gut einer Stunde Oxidation - ist recht stark von einer etwas vergorenen Gemüse-Fehlnote geprägt. Dieser Eindruck verfliegt jedoch, insbesondere das faulige Aroma ist glücklicherweise eine initiale Momentaufnahme. Der Rum bleibt etwas pflanzlich ausgerichtet, daneben zeigen sich PM-typische Marker von Lakritz, Pfeffer, Zitrusfrüchten, nassem Holz, Anis und Kräutern. Durchaus intensiv und etwas fordernd, aber mit Charme für den erfahrenen Gaumen.

So, must empty a few opened samples. Still the most complex on the nose for me. The black cardamom note is interesting. Then too sharp-edged on the palate. It doesn't excite me, especially for the €250 I think it cost. You don't have to try it, one sip is enough. The rest goes down the drain for the sake of my liver.

Underdog-triple of the Balan series. The nose is quite interesting, roasted notes, some dried fruit, spices, almond.... The fruit and roasted notes are confirmed on the palate. But then the alcohol comes to the fore. Does not seem fully developed. Something is missing. Nevertheless ok,
