After the 9 comes the 12 Centenario for tasting. Smells very similar. Vanilla, caramel, butter and pastry. Taste is quite different though. Besides vanilla and caramel, nutty and woody aromas appear as well as a slight hint of orange peel. Compared to the 9, less watered down but still relatively thin.

On the nose, clearly less alcoholic than the 9-year-old Centenario. Nice vanilla and caramel notes, but that's about it. The mouthfeel is very thin and watery. There's a nice, subtle sweetness, otherwise caramel, dried fruits, and a slight sharpness. The finish is short and not very complex. Caramel, a bit of bitterness, and that's it. My conclusion: Honestly, I actually find the 12-year-old somewhat worse than the 9-year-old. Because the alcoholic sharpness is missing, the thin and watery overall impression stands out much more. If I had to choose, I'd buy the 9-year-old. Overall, also not a total failure, but nothing I'd say belongs on my shelf.

Simple and delicate nose of caramel, honey, and coconut. On the palate there is more sweetness, seems like a sweetness from added sugar. Always everything round and balanced without surprising, at least for me...
