Edit: unfortunately it couldn't quite keep up with the other Chairman’s, but for me still a pleasant sipper for in between, as it is not as exhausting as some other Chairman’s. First impression: I personally like it quite a bit. Detailed review will come when all samples from Split are shipped. He will easily crack the 8.

8,6:On the nose, glue and tar, smoky roasted oak notes like cream toffee, cocoa, spicy with baking spices, vanilla, fruits like banana, bitter orange, red fruits with strawberry, creamy, balanced, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, the molasses is vegetal, dark with black tea, licorice, roastedness is strong with roasted nuts, confectionery with pastry, peanut butter, tropical fruits are omnipresent, as hints of rubber and tannins. 8,6:On the palate, the attack is creamy with roasted oak notes like cream toffee, leather, the apple is baked, spicy with vanilla, fruity with citrus, red and dried fruits, currants, green fruits, as the molasses is fresh with tea, slightly dark with licorice.Various industrial/medicinal notes add to complexity of this rum like rubber, petrol, menthol, some metallic patina is there. 8,4:The finish is balanced, long, dry&tannic, as smoky, toasted oak, nutty, spicy, pairs grassy, fresh molasses and various tropical, citrus fruits, dried apricots. Edit:28.3.26, oxidation helps, an upgrade to 8.5

Tasted this fantastic blend from Saint Lucia Distillers Ltd (SLD) during Sweden Rumfest 2025. This rum is a blend from three of their stills, the Coffey column still, John Dore 2 and the small Vendôme. The two latter are Pot Stills. After distillation, the rums were aged for 13 years, first in a brandy cask, then in a red wine cask, and finally finished in an ex-bourbon cask. It’s limited to just 170 bottles. Aromas and flavors are complex, fruity, woody and spicy with notes of rubber, different red berries, strawberry, vanilla, oak and dried fruits. The finish is rather long.

A rum that apparently I like much more than the average. A wildly mixed fruit basket of red and tropical fruits on one side and various spices and wood on the other make this rum a taste explosion. The whole is adorned with pleasant menthol notes.

As Chairman naturally on a high level but in direct comparison it appeals to me a bit less now. Not my favorite and less rich in flavor palette than the bottles tasted in parallel.

Frankonian Tasting Gang - 21.03.2025 - Nuremberg: Five Chairman's Reserve in a small cross tasting. The Horizon has a very dominant, mega-fruity nose. Right after pouring, it's there, while the others still need some time to unfold. After a while, RdL and RA catch up. Similar picture on the palate, the three would be my favorites, while the LMDW is too woody for me and the Cask&Bottle has too much finish.

Good quality as always from Chairman’s out of St. Lucia. However, this bottling was the weakest of the evening. It just feels a bit „damp“ compared to other Master‘s Selection bottlings. Presumably there have just been to many different stills and casks involved over all. Still a very good rum but not in the very top bracket of what SLD can do.

Chairman's on the more bitter side - present, roasted wood influence, cooling tea and mint notes, plus a nice base of caramel and vanilla as well as spice aromas. Many archetypal aromas for SLD, which are not unbalanced but in their expressiveness compared to other releases have somewhat too little power in my opinion.
