New tasting of a Bielle rum bottled by Rasta Morris. The least we can say is that this one is much more to my liking compared to the first one (RX7116). Alcohol is perfectly integrated giving space to enjoy the complex and elegant profile. A really good rum.

Tasted at SITS ‘25. The aroma in the glass opens cheerful, fresh with hints of meadow and lemon tart, and yet clearly old as it sports a hefty amount of old wood, citrus zest and perhaps a hint of furniture polish. After some time in the glass the age settles down a bit and wonderful notes of glazing sugar, eucalyptus and rose appear. A unique smell I have not encountered often, but I certainly approve of. The taste is lavish, heavy with notes of dried and candied fruits, ancient wood, cask spice and resin. It has that familiar agricole vegetal element found in older vintages, as well as an interesting hint of clingwrap. The mouthfeel is too thin for me to effectively meet the (over)power of the wood and truly fulfill expectations. The finish is a perfect balance of toasted and Woody elements on one side, with dried fruits and black tea on the other side, leading into a long, minty experience.

What a bottle. A beautiful bielle with a great funcky and complex touch. Very intense lovely fruit with a powerful glue and dirty notes. Too expensive. בקבוק חלקתי את הבקבוק הזה בערב בקבוקין יקרים. מבחינתי אחת ההצלחות הגדולות. אומנם בקבוק יקר מידיי ללא ספק. אבל בייל בתצוגת תחליט עם רשמים של פירות בשלים והמון מהסגנון של לושיה, גמייקה, פיגי. מלוכלך גם. עם עשן. לקה. מזכיר את הארמניאקים המבוגרים 50 + של שטו גוב. לדעתי כל אחד יעריך רום כזה. אבל הנקודה החלשה שלו היא שיש דברים דומים מספיק ואפילו יותר טובים שרחוקים מהמחיר הזה.

Bielle 7 years (2015) – 56.2% – Cask RM030 Bielle 20 years (2002) – 49.4% – Cask RM029 Nose The 7 years opens with a very indulgent caramel and a hint of licorice. It's rich, complex, almost like a candy. A few moments later, exotic fruits appear: banana, passion fruit... The 20 years takes all that even further, with a superb persistent anise note that I love, and a touch of gunpowder with smoky accents. Magnificent. Palate It's dense, balanced, perfectly integrated. All softness, without any aggressiveness. The caramel from the nose returns immediately, accompanied by very ripe fruits. A real concentrated fruit salad, with a freshness and length very pleasant on the aged cane. Hard not to enjoy these rums. Personally, I preferred the nose to the palate, but what a thrill! That said, they remain below the mythical Bielle 16 years 2002 – 49.3% – Cask RM011, which remains to this day the most beautiful agricole nose I've had in a glass.
