22.03.2025 Retasting at Whisky Watcher, Odense. ---------------------- #5103 08.02.2025 relaxing with a few samples at home. Nose Fresh, fruity, light wood, faint smoke, light apple, citrus, light orange, faint honey. Palate Oily, wood, light roasted, fruits, light orange, light honey, medium spicy, light pear, spice. Finish Medium to long, fresh, wood, oily, medium spicy, fruits, light citrus. If you handwarm this one it really opens up nicely.

I approached without expectations, together with a declared 'hater' of flowery rums. For El Salvador you usually only have one distillery in mind, but I'm quite sure this is NOT Cihuatan. Very fruity, flowery, initially also perfumed. Needs some time in the glass, water adds wood spice, which is then a bit odd... so better without water. We liked it, but it's clearly a mood thing... not something I crave every day. Craftsmanship top-notch and even better than a barrel sample I tried when it was about 15yo. Cheers.

Unexpected Surprise. Not the usual "spanish style" rum. Yet molasses and column, buy the way we like. Somehow it recalls some millesime from foursquare. Not an overwelming sweetness, wood and fruit driven, with a lot of Apple juice freshness. Maybe the score is too high, but high is the Surprise so i think it is well deserved.
