Similar to the Rhum Attitude 2005, but here still very subtle smoke and peat. But here, too, the alcohol is not so well integrated and somewhat distracting. On the palate there are also a lot of spices, wood and caramel and less mint.

At the beginning, the alcohol stung my nose and eyes a little, which fortunately was no longer noticeable after half an hour in the glass. I wouldn't have thought of a TDL - chocolate, wood and some nuts on the nose and palate, but also tropical fruit and burnt sugar. Alcohol burns a little.

I let the rum breathe for a good hour. The nose is very fruity, it smells of citrus fruits, some kumquat, also mint but subtle. Quite sweet associations. Also some marmalade or shiash tobacco and subtly smoky. Very similar in the mouth. Passion fruit is added. Cask influence is not pronounced. Alcohol is powerful and yet somehow not, well integrated for around 70%. The finish is also harmonious, albeit somewhat short. A good rum, with a fairly straightforward, fruity rum by Trinidad standards. Retasting: an example of how oxidation can do a rum a world of good. The flavor components have combined extremely well and are now really coming into their own. The power of the ABV is particularly noticeable in the overlong finish. Great.

8,3:On the nose, slightly alcoholic, rubber, minty molasses with peat hints, barrel impact is obvious with toasted wood, a bit smoky, spicy with allspice, sweet with brown sugar, citrus fruits, apricots, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, tropical fruits arise, pastry, ginger, oily, meaty touch, dairy hints, molasses is vegetal, grassy with hay. 8,2:On the palate, the attack is slightly alcoholic, molasses is minty, earthy with tobacco, mineral, bitter, fruity with passion fruit, lime, the wood is toasted with burnt sugar, butterscotch, chocolate, nutty, smoky, meaty, spicy. 8,3:The finish is medium, dry, tannic, coppery, minty, fruity with tropical, citrus fruits, the oak is toasted with pastry, nutty, spicy with ginger, baking spices, rubber joins.
