The catch is the body: even fans call it thin and watery at 40.7%, with a short finish. Where it wakes up is a dry, complex daiquiri.

A soft, accessible rum with notes of yellow fruits, cocoa. The most interesting thing is still the slight lemon-like acidity. But overall a bit too mild and watery. The finish is medium length but could have more depth. Solid, but without big highlights.

8:On the nose, a very pleasant first impression with dried, citrus fruits, like a marmelade, metallic patina, barrel impact with roasted wood notes like cocoa, nuts and spices with vanilla, slightly sweet. On aeration, yellow fruits are stronger, wine notes with raisins. 7,6:On the palate, the attack is a bit thin with dried, citrus fruits, oaky wood, roasted and slightly smoky with cocoa, leather, nuts, caramel, burnt sugar and spicy, there are metallic notes, bitterness and some tobacco. 7,5:The finish is medium long, thin, dry, with roasted wood, spicy, pencil shavings and dried, yellow fruits...

Tagesausflug Dortmund August 2025. Shop Stendels. Dann durfte ich noch 3 Don Q vor Ort verkosten. Dieser hier ist Durchschnitt. Wir haben hier Kakao, Vanille und Eiche in der Nase sowie am Gaumen. Solider Rum.

Unfortunately this blend from Puerto Rico doesn’t convince with aroma or complexity. The nose is soft and reserved. On the palate it is relatively thin and one-dimensional. Only the vanilla note, which brings a certain creaminess, pleases me. The finish is short with a slight chocolate note. This rum would be well suited and tasty in a stirred or marble cake. The liquid History of Puerto Rico Tasting Bonus No. 2 - significantly better than the Don Q 7. Much stronger aromas, vanilla is very natural compared to the other samples. The rum is much more present, especially in the daiquiri. The alcohol is not disturbing.

Basically a nice "old" Puerto Rican rum blend, but even at 40.7% it feels very thin and therefore hardly aromatic and quickly gone... Complexity apart from dried fruits, lots of wood and some cocoa is hardly present. For me, both neat and for drinks, I am better off here with a Spanish style like an Eminente 7 or 1731 Belize 7y etc.

Very exciting rum! Blind, I certainly wouldn't have been able to place it well. Unfortunately, in my opinion, it was bottled too thinly. But if you get into it, you can discover a lot. Great complexity, I taste agricole/brandy notes, peach, plum, vanilla, tobacco. Unfortunately, the finish is quite short.

Don Q ist ein bisschen Hassliebe für mich. Der Don Q7 hat sich als Allrounder in der homebar etabliert. Umso gespannter war ich auf den blenders Reserve der den ältesten verfügbaren Rum der Destillerie enthalten soll. Die Flasche ist beinahe durch und ich muss sagen hier zeigt sich einfach Qualität. Tolle Kakaonote im Geschmack die ich bei Öffnung der Flasche so klar noch gar nicht hatte. Insgesamt sehr rund und wie bei DonQ gewohnt alles sehr sauber. Etwas mehr Power wäre trotzdem schön.

A very nice blend, alas I fear I find it a bit too expensive in comparison to the 7 year old. Very nice, dry an complex daiquiri 4/5 stars. Really liked the profile and am happy about the bought bottle
