Sipped neat, this 14-year Trinidad TDL leans hard into mint and menthol — one member just calls it a "Minzbombe" — wrapped around peach iced tea, passion fruit, mango and light oak. High-ester tropical fruit up front, a faint solvent note that blows off, and at 62.3% the alcohol is mostly well folded in. Fresh, fruity, not especially complex, but nicely put together.

Falls quite short of the TWJ-T.D.L 2003 (RX23457) tasted at the same time and unfortunately does not have a leading position within the 2009 vintage, which has rightly been on the rise recently. This T.D.L seems cask-heavy and smoky, as if it had a whisky finish. In addition, the alcohol doesn't seem particularly well integrated. For me, this is not a direct mistake in the choice of cask, but an atypical 2009 at the lower end of the vintage scale. Update 2025-05-10: Upgraded from 79 to 82 points after tasting again. Today, surprisingly, I quite like this strong, unbalanced note and I detect a pronounced herbal component in the finish, which I find interesting to say the least. Once again, I can only say: don't underestimate the form of the day! 😉

Solid 2009 TDL. As expected, lots of menthol but also camphor, eucalyptus, cinnamon and tart passion fruit and guava. Alcohol is well integrated. There is a slight petrol note on the nose which disappears after a while. All in all, good but not a world first. The Bottleshop 2009 was much better here in my opinion.

The nose greets us with a good dose of toasted almond and plenty of exotic fruit in its juice: maracuja, pineapple, mango. But it's above all heady floral aromas that lull us in. A light wood varnish transports us to an old apothecary's store, with old waxed wooden furniture, lots of spices, medicinal notes and eucalyptus. This Whisky Jury is a far cry from the red fruit accents so common in TDL. The palate is lively but the alcohol light. The palate is full of freshness, with menthol and exotic multi-fruits. The whole is very complex, with floral notes similar to those on the nose. The spices are greedy: tonka bean, Sichuan pepper. The whole is fat and covers the whole tongue. The finish is interminably spicy. This rum is syrupy, and takes us far away in its menthol and light woodiness.

#5573 20.08.2025 Enjoying a set of samples after a a very long work day, luckily I will be off early on Friday for compensation. Nose Fresh, light wood, faint smoke, berries, light chocolate, light anise, mint, light floral. Palate Fresh, light wood, light roasted, berries, light chocolate, light anise, mint, light floral, faint herbs. Finish Long and warm, light wood, light citrus, berries, light chocolate, light herbs. Empty glass Fanilla, chocolate, berries, light licorice, mint.

The 2009 vintage from T. D. L. keeps impressing me again and again. The single cask bottlings sell out relatively quickly, but lately, restocks have been coming more often. For me, typical peach aromas paired with black tea. Also very smooth and generally mouthfilling with bright fruits on the palate.

On aeration, burnt sugar, roasted nuts, vanilla come out, pastry, spicy with cinnamon, berries arise, molasses is perfumed, herbaceous. 8,4:On the palate, the attack is slightly medicinal with light esters, varnish, camphor, perhaps petrol hints, molasses is minty, grassy, fresh with tea, eucalyptus, herbaceous, fruity with overripe tropical, citrus fruits, peaches and the wood is roasted with caramel, burnt sugar, oily, some confectionery, spicy with allspice, nutmeg, vanilla, dry. 8,4:The finish is medium long, dry&tannic, with roasted oak notes like caramel, chocolate, nuts, spicy, warm, fruity with tropical fruits, berries, black currant hints and molasses is minty, flowery, eucalyptus joins..

Very harmonious and round 2009 TDL. The nose is fruity with peach and dried fruit, plus mint and tea. On the palate iced tea peach with mint, some tea. Nice and intense, not particularly complex, but very well integrated ABV. I like it very much!

Fruity notes on the nose with a tropical mix of passion fruit and pineapple. On the palate, an interplay of menthol and fruit with woody aromas. The boy is a lot of fun. Good rum from the series

Once again the classic peach iced tea TDL as I like it. The typical markers are very well balanced, with the most prominent aromas varying strongly from nose (mint), palate (peach) to finish (dry and somewhat bitter peach iced tea).

This 2009 doesn't quite convince me. It does have the decisive markers of mint, spice and some fruit. However, it loses me on the palate, where I don't find it as balanced as some other bottlings from the vintage

Mint bomb! Clearly noticeable on the nose, but even more so in the taste. It's very fruity, hardly woody. In my opinion, that fits together perfectly. The alcohol is super well integrated. With water, even more menthol comes through.

TDL DNA, but the 2009 vintage is clearly too young for me and simply not that good in terms of quality. Column style much too present and alcohol not well integrated.

Slightly more floral on the nose compared to other TDL 2009. Nice mint and yellow fruit on the palate. However, the alcohol is not as well integrated as in other TDL 2009s and not as nicely oily as in the TDL 2009 Bottleshop. The finish also seems a little flatter to me. Overall, I still think this is a good and tasty bottling and I don't regret buying a bottle. Nevertheless, there are better representatives of this vintage.

Smell for me weaker, slightly mint and coconut. The taste is quite sweet, minty with fruit and again such a strange chemistry, but in an acceptable dose. The finish is already strongly minty and tropical fruit and blackberries. Higher abv than rx23457 fits this.
