Very curious data points. For me this rum is an absolutely positive surprise! Fat sweet-red fruity, mouth-filling, vanilla coffee with milk, creamy on the palate. The alcohol is super integrated. The finish is medium to long and warmly chocolatey sweet. The cask influence is clearly noticeable here and visible in the very dark color. Particularly interesting is a smoky ash note that accompanies the entire tasting from nose to finish. It reminds me of the aroma profile due to this smoky note vaguely of the Dictador Cadenheads CS 1993. Delicious! Many thanks for the sample @Leo

It feels like a second-rate rum had its harsh edges knocked off with a good dose of sherry. Not much complexity and the alcohol is only moderately suppressed by the liqueur-like character.

The sherry influence is clearly noticeable in this bottling and smooths out the edges considerably. This comes at the cost of complexity, but makes it easy to drink. For me personally, it's a bit too smooth and sweet.

8,4:On the nose, the first impression we get is fruity with red and dried fruits like prunes and cherry, from sherry finish, the wood is strongly roasted with chocolate, roasted nuts, caramel and burnt sugar, spicy with cinnamon, ginger. On aeration, leather, coffee and fruits like plum, citrus are out, later coconut and dried apricots from bourbon barrel ageing, quite strong vegetal aspect comes out, tobacco and tannins. 8,3:On the palate, the attack is dark with sherry notes and strongly roasted wood, as our tasting buds are hyperstimulated with prunes, raisins and red fruits, roasted nuts, milk chocolate, crème brûlée, coffee, leather and confectionery, slightly smoky and spicy, the molasses is vegetal.When oxidized, it becomes really creamy, it gets a metallic patina, bourbon fruits show up like coconut, dried apricots and citrus. 8,4:The finish is long and balanced, dry, tannic, as the palate notes continue their journey on..

Palate Oily, light wood, fruits, light orange, light cherry, light nuts, naturally sweet, round, faint herbal. I like it very much. Very easy drinking, the sweetness comes across subtly. Reminds me of the good Arturo Makasare from Corman Collins. For the price a very nice rum with 12 years of tropical aging. Of course, with the strong sherry influence, it's not a complexity monster.

Trade fair tasting Village '25 Nuremberg Nice bottling from the Dominican Republic. The finish is well integrated here, needs a little time in the glass. The dosage that the rum probably has does not detract here. It is rumored that it might be a Brugal.

So I have to say for the high proof I really like it. It's slightly sweet, but that doesn't bother me :) Also chocolate, vanilla and the cask are recognizable. I'd say a solid piece.

Tasting Village25: For Dominican Republic standards already really good, but I would never buy a bottle for home, it's too one-dimensional and uncharacteristic. I think there's some dosage in it too...

Nice surprise from a new bottler for me. On the nose you already notice the strong influence of the Oloroso cask; alongside dried fruits, caramel and spices. On the palate and finish, coffee aromas come through. Alcohol not perfectly integrated, but not too disturbing.
