Well-liked but rarely called the best of the Rare Collection. A 22-year Enmore from the wooden Coffey still that noses beautifully — dried apricot, raisin, caramel, chocolate, old varnished wood — but many taste a lighter, spicier palate with a chili-pepper kick and a short-to-medium finish. Several find the mouth doesn't match the nose, and a few think the 1996 sibling wins.

Another tasting where all the likes have disappeared 🤔 26.10.2025 Part 1 Today we have an El Dorado Rare Cask online tasting and I've been looking forward to it. I will keep the score and just enjoy the rums and I have all of them on my shelves as well. ---------------- This is a great rum and it really stands out even compared to the other Enmore's. A very well balanced rum with one of the best noses I have ever sampled. A rum well worth the price tag.

Very inviting nose with dried apricots, raisins, and delicate chocolate notes. Unfortunately, the palate can't quite keep up with the fantastic nose. Slight alcoholic sharpness noticeable – at one point it even reminded me a bit of an unsweetened, Spanish-style cask strength. But that's criticism on a high level. Relatively dry, spicy, and pleasant wood notes. Very nice Enmore!

Very oily, wonderful red-golden color. A great nose!!! Very warm, perfectly balanced. Alcohol not noticeable. Very nice and spicy in the mouth. Strong and warm. Not woody despite the long storage in the tropics. Warm, beautiful finish. The perfect Demerara sipper and a "beautiful" rum.😀😀😀 However, it lacks that certain something to ascend to the Olympus of the Rare Collection.

Great tropical aged Enmore, but compared to the ED 1996 it performs a bit weaker. It lacks complexity and intensity, especially on the palate. Still a very good rum, very tasty. Lots of roasted notes, fruit, brown sugar, and dark cask influences.

Very good, especially the nose. The chocolate flavor I like extremely well. However, the citrus content is too high for me, neat acidity. And the finish turns out relatively short.

8,6:On the nose, the first impression we get is a combination of varnish, roasted wood notes like nuts, burnt sugar and chocolate, spicy with cinnamon, fruity tones with dried apricots and raisins, some perfume. On aeration, pencil shavings and minty molasses arise, yellow, citrus fruits and coconut, butterscotch and nutella. 8,9:On the palate, the attack is sweet, delicious with dried fruits, coconut, pairing roasted wood notes with butterscotch, chocolate, leather and some spiciness with pepper, vanilla, tobacco.When the rum is oxidized, it becomes really buttery, balanced, perhaps slightly meaty, Demerara sugar is there, citrus fruits with lime. 8,7:The finish is long, dry and tannic, the barrel impact is strong, with slightly smoky roasted wood notes, spicy, variety of fruits and tobacco.. I have both El Dorado Enmores in the glass at the same time. I lack experience with the EHP Mark so far. The nose of the 1993 is very soft and pleasant: coffee (also with the acidity of coffee), roasted aromas, dark caramel, Nutella, dried fruits and some grapefruit. I like it very much. The mouth is surprisingly light, more sour than expected, but otherwise similar in profile. But less pleasant, sometimes burnt, bitter and sour. It also lacks intensity, especially towards the finish. The finish is nicely nutty but very mild and not very long. A nice rum but it stays below its potential. My sample has been open for over two years, oxidation may have distorted the impression a bit. Overall, these are two pleasant rums with a clear Demerara profile but also a slight column still arbitrariness. The 1996 is actually a bit better than the 1993.

Compared directly with the '95 Velier and '96 ED, it does surprisingly well - definitely an option within striking distance, although the Velier in particular is still a tad ahead.

Match vs the 1996: the nose is quite similar but a little less caramel than the 1996. I found it nicer. On the other hand, for me, the 1996 easily wins. Deeper, darker and longer in the mouth. I found a little acidity on the finish in the 93 that the 96 does not have.

A nice Enmore, offering fresh and varnished notes of dried fruit, prunes, raisins and citrus that mix with the more traditional chocolate, vanilla and woody notes.The rum is more spicy and intense on the palate, but offers some citrus notes (lemon zest) that sharpen its profile. The finish is quite short, however, with aromas of chocolate, wood, oak, vanilla, chili, with a hint of smoke and menthol. An authentic rum from the original Enmore still.

Beautiful flavors of dried fruit, dried apricot, citrus, old varnished wood. But also caramel and dried herbs. The attack on the palate is disappointing in comparison with the nose, marked by spiciness/pimento, which is not very pleasant, then dried fruits emerge with old varnished wood. Everything falls back into place once the spiciness has disappeared, and the finish is beautiful, bitter, complex and long. A fine Enmore, atypical, I regret the spiciness at the start of the palate.

The nose is pleasant with real caramel notes but on the lighter side. In the mouth the first feeling is that the alcohol is not as well integrated as it could be but again caramel and tobacco with some oak from the barrel influence. The finish is hotter than expected again with oak and coffee but not bad. My first DDL rare collection and while not up there with the best Demerara’s a perfectly solid rum

Very atypical profile for an Enmore. You expect something very dark and you find loads of round notes especially on the palate. It reminds me Enmore 1995 from Velier but less complex and expressive. A delicious easy sipper for sure 😋

Out the back a bit sour and very very slightly bitter, roughly in the direction of how a lime disc causes it in a Ti Punch Vieux. Doesn't bother me too much, though. The nose is better than the palate, though.

different animal than yesterday’s Foursquare. I already smelled the rum when the Barkeeper poured it in the glas, sitting in a corner in the bar. The longer it sits in the glas, the more flavors I discover. Dried fruits, oranges, a nice balanced sweetness. Vanilla now after a while. The rum is very balanced, the alcohol very well integrated, smooth and complex. Roast aromas and a real nice influence from the cask. long, roasty and woody finish. very nice!

The initially rather shy smell develops very appealingly over time and invites prolonged sniffing. On the mouth, the rum is very smooth and quite complex with some soapy-floral hints of violet and lavender, then leading to a fine but unfortunately somewhat short finish. A tasty quiet achiever from Guyana!

It got a lot of wood. Rather on the tart side with nice wood spice, plus caramel and some dried apricots. Also it has a note on the nose that's hard for me to pinpoint but I really like it. Delicious stuff. 86/100 or 6/10

An old Enmore with a very woody and rich nose. Dried fruits, caramel. Warm and inviting profile. On the palate, more wood. Also citrus. Spicy and lively. Leather. A very pleasant rum.

Comparison between ED Versailles and Enmore. The Enmore has more body and character, already comes across as more powerful on the nose. Barrel, chocolate, dark fruits, and burnt sugar. However, initially also a certain sharpness, it needs time in the glass. Everything you would expect is also offered on the palate. Dark notes of chocolate, vanilla, and wood. However, again a certain metallic note here, which could possibly come from the alcohol. The great aromas of burnt sugar with vanilla and dark fruits are fantastic! Great bottling, but it doesn't quite reach Skeldon and Albion, though it stays ahead of Albion.

Enmore - a working distillery, now only a functional distillation device. Probably the only wooden distillation device in the world that enjoys great popularity. Enmore rums have flavors of ash, leather, heavy wood, which especially excites fans of smoky whiskies. And if the producer adds a bit of molasses to the rum in the traditional Guyanese way, you have a unique, very strong and heavy rum in the bottle. One of my favorites.

Very warm aromas like leather, wood, vanilla, eosin in the nose. On the palate, the first thing that comes to me is a balanced sweetness followed by similar nuances as in the nose. However, pepper and chocolate follow in the mouth. Probably diluted and sweetened... A pity if so! But all in all a very tasty Enmore.

A very good Enmore. It presents well both on the nose and on the palate. The finish has a good persistence with notes of burnt sugar that I really like. I regret not buying a bottle when it was available at really affordable prices.

A good Enmore, compared to the 96 brother I have to say I prefer this last one. Great promises on the nose that however get lost on the palate. Definitely a great product but from the same line the 1996 is above.

The nose is unexpectedly fruity compared to the woody Enmores I've had at this age so far. On the palate the fruit then gives way to a certain spiciness which is very interesting. From nose to finish there is a pleasant note of lemon running through. The alcohol is pleasant. Still not on the level of other Enmores.

Great collection from El Dorado. Beautiful pieces at (so far) a great price. Nose full of heavy oily scents of old Demeraras. Taste combines sweetness, smokiness, leather, heavy oily flavors and a long finish. Awesome!!!

Nice nose, but on the palate one of the weaker rums in the series. A bit thin, slightly alcoholic, with a metallic undertone. Not a bad rum, but there are other calibers from Guyana.

I was very eager to taste that one, having tried the VSG before and having a sample of the PM waiting. So we have an EHP here, from the Enmore Coffey column still. It doesn't come cheap but this is a 22 year old Guyana rum, so in this regard the price make sense. Now to check if the quality of the product follows, I was very disappointed in the El dorado Enmore single still,hope this one will be on another level. The nose is quite closed at first, it needs time to open up. The first 3 main aromas that come to me are wood, caramel and dried fruits. The wood is dark, slightly burned, which combines with the burn caramel notes. Dried fruits are on raisins, dried apricots and dried date, but not as intense as one can have with Port Mourant or Versailles. Also, I don't have the dried plum here. There is a hint of menthol in the back. The first mouth is very unsettling, it opens on herbal and chili notes. Going back to it, I find back my caramel and dried fruits but they are hidden behind this intense chili flavor as well as wood tanins. It's not really sweet, but the alcohol integration is well done, it drinks very easily. It's interesting, but the nose was more pleasant. The final is on the wood, tanins and some brown sugar. It's rather bitter than sweet. Overall it's a good rum, but not an absolute banger. The nose is very nice once opened, but the rum delivers a bitter and spicy mouth were I expected more dried fruits and caramel. I preferred the VSG bottling. For this price, I think you can find better EHP bottlings.

Nose is again a bit disappointing but yet intriguing with red fruits and complexity. Attack is really nice ! Strong and covers the tongue. But complex and plums. Finish is longish. A nice tasting and quality

A very solid rum rich in aroma and taste, which doesn't quite reach the best pieces from the El Dorado Rare Collection range, but definitely has something to offer.

On the nose, you find the markers of its little brother the 96, namely plum, raisins, date... It's not aggressive at all on the nose with its 56.5%, quite the opposite, it's very soft. The nose is fruity and fresh but slightly below its little brother because a bit too closed. 1-0 for the 1996. On the palate, it's less fruity than the nose, more woody and fatty on chocolate. You find caramel that rounds it all off. But a rather disturbing bitterness is present (bitter coffee, tannins...). The finish is average on wood and spices.

A very nice Enmore. Very round and creamy. Great nose. Creamy and nicely dark on the palate. The bitter notes never become too dominant. Everything very balanced. Fun without being demanding.

A very good rum for me, a very aromatic nose, a mouth full of flavor but it lacks length for my part. I find that the alcohol is not too noticeable despite its degrees but it remains very indulgent with a desire to take another sip once the flavors have evaporated. It just lacks a bit of power and length to get a better score.

Beautiful color for this lovely rum, first nose dry caramel, vintage port, and then tobacco, cigar box. On the palate it's nice and straightforward, maybe a bit lacking in roundness or indulgence but that's a choice. The finish is quite long with a hint of bitterness of roasted coffee.

First impression; really a delicious rum. Definitely one of the best rums i tries in this price category. Just tried my first glass, a long lingering pleasant finish. Will see how the bottle develops after having some more glasses over the coming weeks.

Superb nose, caramel, chocolate, raisin with a hint of smoke. On the palate, a slightly dark vanilla, chocolate, it's woody with a touch of acidity on lime. The only downside is it could have had a longer finish. A very beautiful rum.

Lovely nose that brings different kinds of dried fruit along with chocolate, leather, coffee and spices. The taste is less interesting, here I mainly get dried fruit and dark chocolate. The finish is quite dry and brings along some minty notes.
