Long Pond VSOP (50 years 1973-2023) 2018
"Classic Long Pond DNA" on the nose, a few tasters say — glue, banana, pineapple and roasted wood. The trouble shows up on the palate, where most found it thin and a little watered-down for the funk it promises. There's milk chocolate, spice and barrel in there, but the low ABV mutes the excitement. A lighter, anniversary-style Long Pond rather than a punchy one.
- Classic LP nose
- Banana and pineapple
- Roasted wood notes

Aggregated from 14 community reviews.
Funky nose, thin and underpowered palate Lovely Long Pond nose, but most found the palate thin and underpowered for the style. Several called it pleasant yet forgettable; the low ABV is the recurring complaint.

First: Thank you T❤️m So nachdem ich eine Nacht drüber geschlafen habe mein Fazit.

8,3:On the nose, glue, tropical fruits with banana and pineapple, some citrus fruits, grassy, funky, barrel impact with roasted wood notes like marzipan, roasted nuts, spicy vanilla, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, the molasses is vegetal with briny olive, perfumed, the fruits are fermented, rubber and soap are out, anise and gingerbread. 8,1:On the palate, the attack is slightly alcoholic, sharp, otherwise fruity with overripe tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, citrus fruits, vegetal with briny olive, medicinal with rubber, as the wood is roasted with cream toffee, perhaps crème brûlée, sourdough bread, later milk chocolate, slightly smoky, spicy with vanilla and ginger. On oxidation, the molasses becomes herbaceous, sweet with honeycomb, citrus fruits candied and some metallic patina comes out. 8,2:The finish is medium long, dry&tannic, as flowery, herbaceous molasses, sweet with honey, pairs overripe tropical, candied citrus fruits and roasted wood notes, spicy, slightly smoky.

Pretty nice on the nose. Some dirty LP funk with wood and some tropical fruits. I also get a perfum/soapy note in the mix. On the palate this anniversary bottling comes with quite some complexity. Again some funk and fruity notes alongside wood and notes from the cask. Some spiciness akin to candied ginger adds another layer. While I enjoy the composition quite a bit, I have to admit that this isn’t working brilliantly with the low ABV. A lot of intensity and excitement is lost I guess. That’s a shame, yet If you don’t compare it to cask strength LPs, this is still very enjoyable as a lighter blend. Cheers and big thanks to Tok for sourcing the bottle and sharing it in the community 🙌

Schmeckt, ohne aufzufallen.

Road Rummers S8T6 Jamaica supertasting I recognise some marks in the nose, but still rather light. When you taste it, you don't get a successful blend. Rather sweet, light and accidic. It's hard to appreciate but i'll finish my glass.

20/06/2025: Road Rummers Jamaican supertasting @ TastToe. Is this a Long Pond!? On the nose: sharp, alcoholic and rather sweet. The palate had an unpleasant note for me that I can't put my finger on. The flavour profile is not what I look for in Long Pond and was very disappointing.
