On The Rocks: One the nose it has a sweetness with vanilla and spices. Taste reveals a smooth strong sweetness with vanilla air spice followed with a slight burn. There are also some fruit and floral notes. In the finish the sweetness continues but the spice fades away quickly. This is an enjoyable sipper that is nicely balanced. Mixed Pepsi Zero: One the nose it has a very mild sweetness. Taste has a very smooth but mild honey sweetness with some slight underlying spice with charred oak. Mixed it washes out the rum, suggest only as a sipper at this price point.

For me personally way too much sherry influence that completely dominates the rum and makes it quite tiringly sour, bitter and sweet... No wonder after 16 months finish in oloroso & PX casks! Doesn't have to be...

Retasting at Romdeluxe. Had a relaxing online tasting yesterday and it had a vide spread between low and high end rums. A very well balanced rum. Price to quality is very good.

A profile that is not very convincing. The nose is very liqueur-like, with lots of raisin notes and sherry cask influence. Coconut, burnt sugar, caramel and vanilla don't help with the diabetes level. On the palate, it's a rather contrasting rum: light in aromas but rather dense in texture. The sherry goes hand in hand with the raisins. We also find caramel, a vanilla and spicy side as well as a slight woodiness. Nothing revolutionary in all this. The finish is a bit livelier and longer than expected, fueled by bitterness, pepper, resin and burnt sugar. Where Rum Nation's Gran Reserva had some character with its floral notes, this XO rather poorly celebrates the 20th anniversary of its bottler, completely fading into oblivion and the meanders of Hispanic rums.

👃 Sugar, molasses, vanilla, industrial liquid caramel, children's syrup, medicine, cooking spices. A rather dry profile for a rum, diluted and thin. Few markers that could make the tasting interesting. 😋 Industrial vanilla, surprisingly drying sensation, syrupy roundness, the caramel seems moldy, low quality. The whole is diluted, but too sweet, light spices, dried fruits, raisins, like a low-end Cognac. The palate is less good than the nose. ⛳ Short, the palate is filled with sugar, liquid caramel, peppered chocolate, sweetness of dried fruits, light markers. 💡 It had been a long time since I tasted very (too) sweet, round and syrupy Hispanic rums. Rediscovering them hurts the senses.

Number 15 from the Tastillery Advent calendar. Just my thing. Beautiful wood aromas, raisins, and a very pleasant sweet note on the nose. Really nice and round on the palate. Vanilla and wood, then sherry, really nice raisin notes with subtle sweetness. A great, well-rounded rum.

Nice rum. On the nose, cinnamon PX sherry stands out. On the palate, beautiful wood aromas. Pleasant sweetness. On the finish remain cinnamon, honey and raisins. I find it great, but more proof would be super at this price.

Grape enjoyment! I received the RumNation Guatemala XO as an early birthday present. It's my first pure rum from Guatemala; before, I only knew the rum through the Tres Países blend. Despite its 40%, it tastes stronger than you might initially expect. On the nose, you mainly smell caramel and vanilla. On the palate, grape dominates. The taste of green grapes lingers and is complemented by caramel and a bit of wood. It's sweet without being a sweet rum. However, you don't really notice the cherry beyond the slight sweetness. Friends of cherry should rather go for PX rums here. A higher alcohol content wouldn't have hurt, but thanks to its pleasant finish and very own grape character, the Guatemala XO is very easy to drink. As a gift, it also looks great thanks to its very beautiful bottle.

Funny how its super sweet yet burns on the tongue. Very nice mix of wood/spice and dried tropical fruits. Very accessible and easy yet with flavour. There is a certain element of freshness which is normally not there in Spanish style aged rums.

Phew, I somehow expected more from this. The rum smells and tastes very weak, sure the 40% also contribute to that. It comes across very watered down. Absolutely no recommendation.
