#6787 14.05.2026 Relaxing with a few samples after my walk and visiting an old friend. Watching a program about Korea and their culture in music, movies etc. Surprisingly good rum when looking at the price tag. A rum with a fresh touch to it with fruits, mint, some varnish, caramel and light herbs and medicinal notes.

In my opinion, there are far better swells out there. Jamaica is recognizable here, but somehow it doesn't work. We have banana and pineapple here, but also ester again, but somehow it doesn't pick me up.

8,3:On the nose, medicinal with esters, fresh, grassy, herbaceous molasses, vegetal with olive, overripe tropical fruits like banana, citrus fruits, sweet and smoky wood with pastry, vanilla, yeast, cookie dough, metallic patina, bump in our nosetrils. On aeration, the rum stays buttery, but becomes slightly acidic, red fruits arise, the molasses is flowery, perfumed. 8,1:On the palate, the attack is a bit sharp, medicinal with esters, glue, fruity with overripe tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, citrus fruits, dry, slightly metallic, as the wood is smoky, spicy with vanilla, pepper, buttery, sweet with caramel, confectionery.The molasses is grassy with hay, flowery. 8:The finish is quite short, to medium, dry, medicinal, soapy, with fermented tropical, citrus fruits, briny olive, grassy, smoky, spicy oak, metallic patina. Blend that works not too badly. The whole is quite gourmand with notes of pastry, milk chocolate, butterscotch and fruity banana pineapple papaya. Some pep with a little ester. I'm still more enthusiastic about the Jamaican blend that I tasted after this one.

Last tasting on the Swell stand at RhumFest Paris 2025. We finish with a lovely blend that pleasantly blends esters and ripe Jamaican fruit with sweeter, rounder notes. It works rather well.

Viel tropische Früchte vor allem Banane eine gute Ladung Ester und deutliche Gebäcknoten beherrschen hier zunächst das Feld. Geschmacklich deutlich würziger auch etwas süße kommt hinzu. Insgesamt durchaus spannender und stimmiger Blend, der Alkohol sticht allerdings etwas zuviel

Dégustation de ce swell de spirits en vis-à-vis avec d'autre profile jamaicain. La trame du high ester est présente tout au long de la dégustation. Il est riche en fruits tropicaux, aussi bien au nez qu’en bouche, et la touche jamaïcaine est bien présente. Je trouve qu'il est bien équilibré au niveau de sa puissance aromatique. J’ai également apprécié la finale, longue, qui conserve ces notes d’esters.

All in all, a nice estery blend. A little too young for me personally, as it still has a little too much rough edges. I think it's more suited to the mixing category than to enjoy neat.

The nose raises high expectations with esters, tropical fruits and crème brûlée, but you are already disappointed on the palate by a rather weak taste. Also, I find slight hints of medicinal alcohol / a metallic taste already on the nose. On the finish cookies and milk chocolate, but unfortunately too flat and short.

A blend with many components. High ester is clear. I really like the nose. Nicely sweet, creamy and fruity. On the palate a bit too sharp though. The rum falls off a bit there. Also noticeable is that the rum is accompanied in all phases by a cold, fresh metallic component. A simple sipper that brings decent warmth. Blind I would have guessed a higher alcohol content. Whether that's good, I don't know. Edit: for me the ultimate ester mixer. Absolutely great with all citrus sodas. Here a clear 10/10.

Solid high ester blend but still a little young. Overall, however, nice fruit notes and slightly buttery. Alcohol is well integrated and the price is really fair. But all in all rather for mixing cocktails and not for pure.

Barely poured and the whole room is filled with this ester smell. Peppery and metallic. Between pear and pineapple my heart wavers… it definitely packs a punch. Once in the mouth it’s strong. The theme stays the same, a bit more on pineapple than pear this time but it’s well spiced with a nice salty side. The finish is relatively long on a good milk chocolate. Nice blend 👍

The nose reveals distinct notes of amaretto and rum balls. The first sip has a slight banana and tropical flavor, overall quite round, but with a rather short finish. With the second sip, the high ester content comes to the fore and clearly dominates the flavor profile.

Tasted at Sanctus Spiritus ‘26. In the glass it’s immediately apparent from the smell that the combinarion of parts has not come to one whole. There are too many elements trying to force their way into the spotlight tipping the experience out of balance. There’s some nice banana and light woods to be picked out, but sour components really take control quickly with red currants, lemon merengue and lots of sour cream. Against expectation there’s more balance on the palate, but the individual flavours have not been left to marry for long enough. Again there are too many strong flavours in play, ranging from mushy banana and delicate beurre noisette all the way to black olives, sourdough and horse stables. The finish is lengthy but like the nose too dominated by sour components. One of the weaker references from Swell for me.

24/01/2026: tasted @ Liquid Leuven 2026. A decent blend, but unfortunately I couldn't pick out the different components like the Belize, Barbados or Venezuela influence. The Jamaican part took over and was all I tasted.

The nose reveals that it is quite a good blend, on the sweeter side of a spectrum which I always like, but I don't really get much more than a strong Jamaican influence and bit of a Belize. Bit of esters, nice dose of banana, bit buttery and my favourite pastries. The palate is a little dissapointing, quite flat without anything standing out besides jamaica again.
