The Whisky Jury Sipper's Rum 2025
Rum drinkers who already like a bit of Jamaican funk but don't want it cranked to full intensity are the crowd here. Expect fermented tropical fruit, banana and pineapple, light esters, brown sugar and baking spice, with a chocolatey, herbal edge from the blend. Several tasters call the young Jamaican portion a touch hot and not fully knit, so it's estery enough that non-rum-drinkers will find it too filthy.

- Easy to sip

8,1:On the nose, esters, fermented tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, red fruits, baked apples, roasted wood notes like chocolate, cream toffee, roasted nuts, spicy with cinnamon, herbaceous and fresh molasses, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, citrus fruits arise, the molasses is vegetal, fresh with tea, various notes like gingerbread, pastry, nutmeg join the game. 8,2:On the palate, the attack is medicinal with esters, solvents, rubber, fruity with fermented tropical, red, citrus fruits, peaches, as the wood is roasted with caramel, pastry, biscuits, nuts, spicy with allspice, vanilla and the molasses is sweet with honey, vegetal. 7,8:The finish is medium long, dry&tannic, the wood roasted with cream toffee, biscuits, pastry, crunchy bread, smoky and spicy with baking spices, the fruits are tropical, citrus and the molasses herbaceous. Unfortunately a total disappointment, smell too much agricole and very sweet. Taste-wise also no hit. Can't even really describe the weird taste, absolutely not my thing. The question is what I do with the rest of the bottle😡 Too bad, the last bottlings from WDC were all not so great... but expensive.
Review by Thunderbird
The name says it all and pretty much hits the mark. It definitely delivers what it promises. A sipper of the darker, spicier kind that can be enjoyed relaxed. That’s partly due to the low ABV. Overall, "nice" 😉

#5180 22.03.2025 Tasting at Whisky Watcher in Odense. Nose Medium intense, light wood, fruity, spice, light herbal, light ester, faint chocolate. Palate Round, light wood, light ester, fruity, light pineapple, light banana, warm, spice, light cinnamon. Finish Medium to long, light wood, faint caramel, light herbal, fruits, light citrus, light ester.

I had been wanting to try this WJ blend for a little while. Tried it as a sample. Overall, it has a fruity Jamaican dominance with a light funk, all rounded off by a chocolatey aroma. Medium-long and pleasant finish. Excellent value for money.

Tasting at the Limoges Spirits Festival 2025. 👃 & 😋 Intense enough with its 49%, dominance of the Jamaican imprint; light esters, tropical fruits (pineapple, banana), lightly fermented apple, spicy woody. The Asian aspect is more noticeable on the nose with herbal notes (fresh herbs, dried green tea leaves). In the background, the Latin part of the blend expresses itself in sweet aromas of molasses, caramel, chocolate, and cooking spices. ⛳ Medium length, rather smooth, here the "ron" side is more perceptible, caramelized wood, brown sugar, light fruity esters, more on fresh and candied citrus, herbal dryness. 💡 It proudly bears its name of "easy" Sipper's Rum. Obvious Jamaican dominance with Asian and rummy notes in the background. 🏆 In the Navy Rum genre, an excellent value for money around 50🍒 to discover the style of blended rum. High value.

First of all, a BIG THANK YOU to TheDunderHut for being part of the Wird&Blind set again. Together with DomM, we took on this challenge. Unfortunately, there was no unicorn this time, but we got to try some great rare stuff that you don't usually get your hands on so easily. The only thing I really missed was the stories about each individual rum in the splitter.

Artur's Weird & Blind Tasting, many thanks for letting me be part of it. No. 8 is already leagues better than No. 7. A slight ester is noticeable, also tropical fruits, as well as some wood, honey, and caramel.
Review by Dr.Django
A nice label with the fitting name for this rum. Spicy with pleasant fruity Jamaican esters. A tasty easy sipper. The alcohol is not very well integrated, maybe because of a share of young Jamaicans in the blend.
Review by Rumpalumpa
A pleasantly smooth rum that primarily comes across as herbal and floral. The esters, in my perception, quickly become just background notes. Additionally spicy but rather young. The finish is a combination of tea and peach.
Review by Skyfly
As the name suggests: an easy-sipping rum. Jamaican background recognizable from nose to finish. On the nose, fermented notes with esters and tropical fruits. On the palate, more spices, especially allspice. The finish has something of baking spices.
Review by Johannes
The nose raises hopes, with nice fruity ester notes. On the palate, a bit unbalanced, light esters, peach, marzipan, wood, bitter notes, definitely dominated by Jamaica.
Review by w00tAN
Funny enough, bought at an auction. On the nose, immediately ester notes, tropical fruits, light smoke. On the palate then very fruity, nice complexity, rotten fruits. Finish long, fruity with a good wood note. Sipping rum, the name says it all with good value for money.
Review by Schnubbii
On the nose fermented fruits and very slight marzipan like a Hampden C<>H. On the palate, the Jamaica portion that dominates the nose rather recedes somewhat, with sweeter aromas of more Spanish style in the foreground. The youthfulness of the young portion comes through a bit and the finish is not very long. Ultimately the individual components of the blend harmonize quite well with each other, the result is not bad but doesn't blow you away. Not a bad blend to sip, but other comparable ones from Rumclub (Navy) or also RdL have pleased me more.

Sippers Rum.

On the nose I only smell young Jamaica. Maybe ester-heavy Clarendon or perhaps Hampden. Other components are in the background. Too bad I only know that it's a blend of Jamaica, Latin America, and Asia. On the palate, besides the Jamaican lineage, I don't really recognize much else. Uncomplicated, accessible rum.

A classic to have on the shelf! Expressive nose for this blend, with Jamaica and Barbados standing out for me! On the palate, a nice intensity! With those funky notes from Jamaica! Short to medium finish.
Review by DomM
Solid blend. More on the low ester side. Nice texture with wood and some sweetness. Clarendon (?) spices and some fruits.
Review by Leo Krüper
Does what it should. Uncomplicated sipper.
Review by Stijn Zino
Interesting sipper. I'm getting strawberry and unaged vegetal things in the nose. Not something you would serve to non rum drinkers, it's too filthy for that.

Weird and Blind #8 I received a really nice set from member TheDunderHut, where you never know what you're getting. It includes some lovely, special rums that I wouldn't normally try. I really enjoyed it. This sample: I was already very interested in this blend. I had already ordered it, but it was canceled. I think it's a very tasty blend. A delicious sipper with a bit of that Jamaican bite.
Review by Johnny Rumcask
Solid blend, the Jamaica portion is clearly noticeable with notes of fruit and some esters. However, the rum is not very complex, rather easy sipping. Personally, I find it too sweet and overall too agreeable.
Review by Michal Jurka
Jamaica is coming through here, very tropical fruity and estery.
Review by Philip M. 🇧🇪
A rum good enough to only sip neat? Absolutely. Is this something I would pour for guests who don't know anything about rum? Probably not. It's way to funky/estery for that. Not for beginners imo. Nevertheless, I like it for what it is and for the price it's a very nice blend for sipping.
Review by FischeJ
Nose better than on the palate. A bit "funky", a bit herbal, a bit grassy. Feels like it gets worse over time. But generally a solid rum.
Review by Jérémie Peresse
Very nice value for money! It's round, indulgent, funky with a bit of character nonetheless. Nice mix of fruits and well-integrated esters. Honestly, for the price, it's a very nice rum. More good work from The Whisky Jury.
Review by Schorgelorsch
The name says it all. It's good for easy sipping. For a higher rating, it would need more fruit and less bitter finish. That bothers me a bit, but overall it's decent.
Review by Jacques etdom
Tasting masterclass (notes to confirm) Very drinkable, the Asian alcohol slightly dominates the nose, nice palate but nothing more. An easy rum.
Review by Pavel Ungr, RumRock
I rate 7.7 out of 10, solid rum that won't disappoint.
Review by Elwin
Jamaica makes its presence known. The older asian part is probably the same Thai rum that's in the duo chapter 3. Does the same job there, round out something young and brash.
