Today the hardly available V&B bottling in the glass. On the nose rather sweetish with caramel, toffee, behind that herbal notes (fresh garden herbs), and the PM-olive-salt brine note. On the palate similar, caramel, herbs. Not super complex, but pleasant to drink...

#5631 05.09.2025 Enjoying some sample after work getting ready for the weekend of tastings. Nose Woody, light roasted, light plum, spice, light coffee, dried fruit, light nutts, light anise. Palate Woody, light roasted, faint citrus, light mint, spice, faint leather, light anise, light coffee, light chocolate. Finish Medium to long, woody, roasted, raisin, light citrus, prunes, light cinnamon. Empty glass Chocolate, vanilla, prunes, light raisin, coffee.

Tasted together with the reduced Franconian Tasting Gang. In my opinion, a solid bottling for its age. Compared to the beautiful label, it can't quite keep up. Conclusion for me, a lower 8.

8,6:On the nose, the first impression we get is vegetal and woody, dark. The wood is charred with leather, coffee, chocolate, roasted nuts and confectionery, the fruits are dried with dates, raisins and figs.A combination of raisins and vegetal aspect gives us a fruit schnapps note. On aeration, the wood is spicy and still dark with extra notes like umami, burnt sugar, crème brûlée, licorice confirms darkness, also tobacco, cocoa and prunes, with coppery touch and a whiff of citrus. 8,8:On the palate, the attack is dark with charred wood notes like coffee, biscuits, fudge, dark chocolate, caramelized Demerara sugar and leather, molasses contributes licorice, black tea, as dried fruits give raisins, figs and apricots. Resting brings citrus and mango, slightly metallic patina and menthol. 8,7:The finish is long, dry and tannic, darkness with palate notes still prevades+cherry..

As I write this review, I still have the taste of a latte with a hint of chocolate syrup in my mouth - a completely new experience. The coffee flavor runs through the entire tasting, accompanied by varying degrees of chocolate and wood notes. There is also some fruit and caramel on the palate. Conclusion: really delicious!

Here is a Port Mourant that I love! Haven't always had crazy experiences with Port Mourant when the wood is damp/rotten. Here the wood is a very pleasant roasted. Lots of roundness and chocolatey indulgence, the strength of coffee, pastry, notes of licorice. Alcohol not too present.

A bit proud to present this cuvée alongside the team at the Rhum Fest, Paris! A very nice profile, which the public really validated 100%, the chocolate and coffee give way to herbal and licorice notes. In the finish, I find it atypical!

Tasted at Rhum Fest Paris 2025. Beautiful sherry bomb color, no addition. 👃 An almost 60% that tickles the nostrils with the spiciness of wood, very candied fruit (tropical and plum), very sweet without any addition, all sorts of variations around a good big caramel. Also some dark pastry chocolate. 😋 Big woody Demerara. Very sweet/salty, umami, soy sauce, salty melted licorice, slight ginger, a bit of caramel coffee and the bitterness of lemon. Fruity on dried plum/date. ⛳ On the woody bitterness, not disturbing, very cooked fruits, caramel and melted licorice. Concentrated, atypical for a young PM.

Another tasting at the Swell stand during RhumFest Paris 2025. Superb Guyana. Relatively young but wood quite melted and pleasant. Some dried fruits. Would deserve a longer tasting.

Another Port Mourant after I really liked the Spirit of the Day. The Swell hits the nose correspondingly stronger with about five percent higher ABV. Here, especially dark coffee aromas stand out. Powerful on the palate with apricot, some chocolate but above all dark and noticeably more bitter in comparison. Hard to find a favorite. The SotD is somewhat lighter and sweeter but seems very balanced while the Swell is a dark powerhouse that still manages the balancing act between distinctive wood influence and too much bitterness very well.

The nose surprises with some esters and a very, very ripe blackened banana. Tobacco and horse saddle mix with a slightly burnt caramel. All in a crazy complexity of spices and licorice. Despite all its empyreumatic character on this burnt caramel, mixed with root and heady flowers, it is quite round and gourmand under the nose. This syrupy impression continues on the palate, with very well integrated alcohol. Again lots of spices (nutmeg), tobacco and leather, but with a very strong presence of licorice stick that you chew and which releases this sweet, caramelized juice. Yet, no added sugar in there. A slight bitterness and an earthy side bring even more complexity to the drink. Even though this rum is very gourmand, I personally struggle a lot with this aromatic profile. It can't please everyone with its very vegetal, even rooty side. It remains very good nonetheless but I wouldn't buy a bottle for myself.

Nice Guyana representative: pencil shavings, coffee, chocolatey and dark notes, wood and a long finish. The whole thing feels harmonious, only the alcohol could be a bit better integrated. Fun in the glass that makes you want more.

Incredible level for this Port Mourant 2011 of youth but a big slap! Perfectly mastered spices! With wood present but indulgent! And that exotic fruit!!!! Yum One of the highlights of the rum fest.

Smell of candied fruits, chocolate. Taste-wise wood note, dried plum, some sharpness, alcohol definitely on the tongue but still quite well integrated overall. Could maybe have stayed a bit longer, but it's already fun to taste as is.
