8,3:On the nose, esters, fermented, overripe, intense, pungent, slightly rotten red fruits, banana, pineapple, citrus fruits(bitter orange), even peaches, honey, briny olive, yoghurt and cheese, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, more vegetal aspect of the molasses is out, flowery, nail polish and rubber, some spiciness and confectionery. 8,6:On the palate, the attack is intense, pungent with esters, overripe, fermented, rotten tropical and red fruits, later various berries and bitter orange, almost like marmelade, molasses with briny olive, flowery, on oxidation, herbaceous, spicy, and a whiff of smokiness. 8,4:The finish is medium long, dry, warm, medicinal, still pungent, with fermented, rotten fruits pairing vegetal molasses, spicy and smoky tones with sourdough bread, iodine. Well, this thing is quite intense, in my opinion more of a mixer than for sipping neat. I think it's quite nice for spritzing in a Daiquiri. The rest downed with cola, that was quite okay. For the price, absolutely fair.

And then there's this really cool Savanna to round off the day and the vacation. I find it totally underrated according to the ratings. So the 74.9% feels more like 55%. Classic Savanna profile, a top rum.

First of all, many thanks to @TheGreatSpooner for the sample. And this Lontan is exactly my thing... the full load with the nice fruitiness of strawberries (strawberry candy) and a tropical touch. Paired with salty olive. The alcohol tingles a bit at first, but it's still fine. The finish is very long. I'll do the Daiquiri test right away, but I already suspect it's going to be a highlight 😁 PS: An absolute bomb in a Daiquiri...

Savanna tasting on 26.09.2025 – Eight samples were tasted and expertly explained. The Savanna hype somehow passed me by again, but it was a really great event. Many thanks to RumX and the Savanna team – more of that please! The Savannas are true masters and craftsmen. Complex, 60% vol., flattering on the palate. The work with different styles like Creole, Traditional, and HERR leads to a variety that only a few distilleries offer. All top-notch! At the end, Bowser. The final boss hits our taste buds with a whopping 74.9%. Very fresh and clear, a really good white rum.

#5197 04.04.2025 Running through some samples at home. Nose Intense, fresh, fruity, ester, olive, light medicinal, light citrus, berries, light vegetal. Palate Intense, warm, fresh, light oily, fruity, olive, light salty, light berries, light vegetal, ester, light herbal. Finish Long and warm, fruity, ester, light pineapple, olive, light salty, light medicinal. Empty glass Fruits, strawberry, light iodine, faint caramel. Needs to rest for a good while to really open up properly. Does a really good job in a Rum'n'Cola 😊

Wow! Was für eine Ester Bombe! Das ist Savanna Grand Arome wie er im Buche steht!😅💥💣🤯 Extrem überreife fast schon verrottete süß, vergorene Ananas, Kiwis und Erdbeeren und dazu salzige Olivenlake und süßlich frischer mentholiger Piment... Das Glas riecht man schon aus 3 Metern Entfernung und der Abgang bleibt ewig im Gaumen hängen... Absolut abgefahren!😅 Im Daiquiri ebenfalls eine ziemliche Waffe wie zu erwarten war! Schönes - wenn auch sehr extremes - Release aber sicher nichts für jeden! 😅

A Grand Arôme column still brut that could wake a corpse (or dissolve it, your choice). The nose is intense, the ultra-ripe side of exotic fruits and citrus, olive tapenade and medicinal notes on esters and nail polish make it a beautiful olfactory beast. The gentler side reveals itself on honey but in small doses. Surely an intriguing rum that will provoke reactions. On the palate, the profile is oily, still powerful but marked by more targeted notes: strawberry, olive, spices and salty notes take more of the show on the palate. The profile maintains a nice balance between vegetal, medicinal, spicy and fruity notes. Even though it’s an extreme profile, the alcohol remains remarkably well integrated. The finish is very long, intensely aromatic on esterified, iodized and fruity notes (pineapple, strawberry). The profile heats up with spicy notes and clearly numbs the palate with its assumed power. Nevertheless, it remains a profile of impressive mastery, drinkable even neat and will make great dynamite in cocktails.

Tasting at the Limoges Spirits Festival 2025. 👃 Wow! What intensity! Everything I love to find in a raw distillate. The 8-day fermentation brings a large amount of esters, green olive, vegetal freshness. There's an undeniable side of very ripe fruits (banana, pineapple, citrus) accompanied by the classic varnish and solvents that don't dominate the tasting. Simple, effective. 😋 But where are the 74.9%? Seriously! Yes, it's hot but you don't directly feel the alcohol. Loads of esters, salted olive, tapenades, roasted and spicy pineapple. Note of kiwi and fermented citrus, pink peppercorns, herbaceous and fresh side. An intense and oily profile, a fatty sensation on the palate. ⛳ Long as one could expect, on the same markers of esters, brine and fermented fruits. 💡 One of the best column raw spirits I've tasted to date, and yet it's not my usual profile. An insane aromatic with an "almost" imperceptible alcohol. Anyway, a drop is enough to appreciate it!

Krasses Gerät! Die 74,9% sind kaum spürbar und unglaublich gut eingebunden. Die Aromen zwischen öliger Salzlake mit Oliven, Ester und vergorenen Erdbeeren sind ein sehr schönes Beispiel für die Möglichkeiten und die Diversität in diesem Handwerk. Wo kann man knapp 75% Alkohol trinken, der nach Olive riecht, wie Erdbeer-Kaugummi schmeckt und im Nachgang wie ein Fruchtkompot mit überreifem Obst daher kommt. Ich hab's ja nicht für möglich gehalten und beim Lesen der Bewertungen gedacht "was ein Quatsch" - ne, ist es gar nicht. Wie der erst im Daiquiri schmecken kann? Danke an Michael für das Sample! Bekommst du das nächste Mal ein Küsschen für ❤️

This is a very intense wapeon. On the nose I really don’t enjoy it. Lots of rotting vegetables, grimy olives and saltiness. All of this turned up to 11. Quite different picture on the palate. Again very, very intense, but here I get intense fruits including the Savanna High Ester strawberry notes. This is very nice with the high ABV being pretty well integrated into the profile. This should be a bomb for daiquiris.

Price-performance ratio is top. You can notice the alcohol, but at nearly 75% it's well integrated. (Overripe) strawberries, menthol, a bit vegetal and olive. You can drink it neat too, but it's more of a very good mixer.

Very intense distillate, fermented fruit, lots of pear and apple brandy notes, kiwi, mango, also olive and mint. The alcohol integration is impeccable, of course the finish remains intense given the high strength, but also full of aromas. Impressive.

An incredible nose right from the pour. Strong olive... unbelievably intense. Strong esters. Also on the palate the strong ester notes but really an exciting strawberry. Great stuff. Definitely a killer as a cocktail base.

Brutal nose of tomato, olive, ester, nail polish, rotten vegetables, overripe fruit. Medicinal, metallic. Tough stuff, definitely not for beginners. Similar on the palate, but the fruity finish is much more pleasant with pineapple and strawberry upfront, also kiwi. And unfortunately still metallic and fermented. I can't recommend this rum for drinking neat.

Savanna x RumX Masterclass 2025. I had a very unique opportunity to taste different Savannas during this special masterclass. I had a fantastic evening. To finish off, I tasted this one. Phew!! What a stunner! A true sweet olive explosion. Pineapple, strawberry and olives. What a beast it is! Delicious.

On the nose, a basket of very ripe tropical fruits, plenty of esters, olive brine, strawberry candies. Pwaaah, this promises to be intense. The palate explodes, it’s intense, rich, the alcohol is superbly integrated. The finish is eternal. What a bomb of intensity. One of the best whites I’ve tasted!

For lovers of raw column and High esters, because here we have power in every sense of the word, it blows your mind and is not at all liked by amateurs. It's a rum that takes time to tame and appreciate, but what an aromatic explosion and what length.

Positive surprise at the Savanna tasting - bold, uncompromising Grand Arome. On the nose esters, overripe fruit, olives, medicinal notes; on the palate strawberries and other fruity tones come through. Definitely a blast for cocktails, but tough guys will enjoy it neat too. 😎

Very powerful distillate with a high ester content. On the nose explosive solvent notes, fermented fruits, lacquer and glue, accompanied by a sharp citrus freshness. On the palate raw, edgy and intense, with overwhelming ester fruit, some olive saltiness and slight herbaceousness. The finish is long but clearly carried by the high ester content and alcohol. Definitely not for beginners, but an uncompromising high-ester Savanna that unmistakably shows its origin.

Intense. Both in nose and taste. There is quite a lot going on here. Give it time and be rewarded. It deserves (and demands) your full attention. If you like bold rums, I would highly recommend it.

On the nose esters, funky, overripe, almost rotten fruits, artificial strawberry, some chemical/technical notes, honey sweetness, hints of mentol. After a good rest it gives away salty, smokey notes like bacon. On the palate very fresh and fruity, the strawberry notes are even stronger, some chemical notes. The 70% abv are not quite present, I would guess about 60%. Very good. This is one of those better unaged rums that I actually quite enjoy.

What a bomb! If you like high esther funk this is truly exceptional. Not for the faint hearted. Taste explodes in your mouth with a mix of salty olive brine, ketchup, strawberry cotton candy, solvent and varnish. Alcohol is surprisingly tucked in and does not feel like 75 degrees. Very expressive and high intensity flavor. A tiny sip goes a very long way and it is hard to taste anything else after this. For the price you really can’t go wrong. I like to have this bottle in my collection when I introduce friends to rum and want them to get the full picture. Should do well in cocktails but I sip it neat.
