Another 2000 Rockley, all rather in the low to mid ABV range, this one included... on the nose smoke, yellow fruits, caramel, herbs, vanilla kipferl. The typical honey note is only very subtle here (but it’s much stronger in the 86 Rockleys anyway). On the palate smoky-peaty, cask, candied, medicinal. Compared to the best (first RA, CG) it lacks a bit of balance and complexity. But overall I like it.

To be honest, I'm definitely warming to this type of rum. The smell was still okay to some extent. But the taste reminded me too much of a smoky, peaty whisky rather than rum. That's just not my thing, so I simply can't give it a good rating if I don't like it. Drinkable with cola o.k.

It's actually quite a nice rum, because you can tell that the base material was solid and the whisky finish is kept in check. In other words, the often dominant smoke is present here at a maximum of medium strength and leaves room for other aromas such as herbs, earth, fruit and honey.

#5820 03.10.2025 Enjoying a few samples after work while listening to some heavy Psy Trance. Nose Fresh, light wood, fruity, faint smoke, light honey, light caramel, herbs. Palate Oily, light wood, faint smoke, light caramel, fruity, light citrus, light varnish, pineapple. Finish Medium to long, wood, light roasted, citrus, light rubber, spice, light smoke. Empty glass Light smoke, citrus, light caramel, faint chocolate.

The nose is very exciting at first with tropical fruits, relatively strong smoke, butterscotch, and oak. On the palate, it seems as if you want to draw a peaty whiskey drinker over to the side of rum. Unfortunately, the whiskey influence with strong peat, smoke, and wood was too strong for me. You might as well just reach for the whiskey.

The nose is super inviting with dried tropical fruits, slightly smoky and iodiney, subtle wood, something of grape sugar. Then something green in the mouth, slight bitterness, vegetables, tobacco, sugar sweets, smoky. Not bad, but unfortunately the mouthfeel and taste don't really fit. This may actually be due to the whisky influence. It has the typical complexity but is not as convincing as others of the vintage. I also find the finish rather short.

Pleasant nose with rather little fruit and more spice. Reminiscent of a good Worthy Park on the palate with aromas of banana and black tea. Nicely spicy. A few more turns probably wouldn't have done it any harm. The finish is not particularly long. A nice piece, but one that is unlikely to be remembered.

Wow, unique scent. I haven't been so pleasantly surprised in a long time. The taste is again an original mix of sweetness, fruit, herbs, peat whisky and spices. There's also some chemistry present that makes it even more interesting to me.

Lots of candied fruit and burnt notes on the nose, the honey is rather discreet. Instead, more caramel and a misplaced acidity. Lots of ripe banana. But definitely interesting. On the palate, unfortunately, there's a distinctive whisky note with peat. That didn't pick me up. The finish was again beautifully dry and astringent. Unfortunately a rather weak WIRD 2000 representative.

8,5:On the nose, sweet molasses with honey, vegetal with briny olive, flowery, toasted oak with butterscotch, malt, pastry, vanilla, buttery, banana, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, dried, green and citrus fruits arise, molasses is grassy, herbaceous, earthy, cream toffee joins. 8,1:On the palate, the attack is rough with earthy molasses, vegetal with briny olive, hints of peat, whisky notes, herbaceous, later slightly flowery, balanced by sweet toasted wood notes like butterscotch, caramelized, marzipan, smoky, spicy, roasted nuts with macadamia, fruity with banana, pineapple, citrus and green fruits. 8,3:The finish is medium long, balanced, dry&tannic, slightly fruity, with toasted oak, smoky, spicy, pairing earthy molasses, green, grassy, vegetal with briny olive and metallic patina, chemical touch.
