Tasted as a sample with 2 rum-loving friends. We unanimously found this rum very pleasant. From the greedy crème brûlée-chocolas au lait pastry to the dry apricot fruitiness and controlled woodiness, the spiciness is rather mild, tending towards peppery-cardamom. The initial texture is fatty, the rum envelops the palate well and there are hints of freshness too.
Auto-translatedThe latest bottling from Spirit of the day (formerly Spiritori) is a 15-year-old Port Mourant. And typically for PM, a spicy nose with plenty of aniseed and dried fruit to accompany it. Round. Noticeably spicy on the palate at first, then a delicious compote of fruit slides over the palate that pleases. The alcohol is well integrated. Has a wonderful freshness and the depth typical of distillates from Guyana. Bitterness fights against sweetness. Delicious. Tasting is highly recommended!
Auto-translatedPretty amber color The nose is fantastic: soap for men, but in cedar essence. There's also a greedy, exotic fruitiness. A slight ester, and a discreet woodiness, on this cedar once again. The whole is very complex, and we spend long minutes unravelling it. A mid-nose brings its share of almond and marzipan. The spices are not to be outdone, with cardamom and camphor. The whole is topped with furniture wax, clove and red apple. The palate is surprising: I immediately had the impression of drinking an Irish whiskey with a fruity malt, pungent with cooking spices. There's licorice, with a slight bitterness of bitter dark chocolate with almonds. There's also a hint of dried fruit, in the style of an exotic aperitif blend. The finish is roasted, with morello cherries showing through. As you may have guessed, the whole is again very complex. Nothing soapy, though. finish: long, woody and spicy, licorice. bitter.
Auto-translatedA fairly young Port Mourant with the typical herbal notes. Hardly any olive and salt, but more fruity notes. I like it very much. Could do with some more ageing.
