This is the lighter 2025 Black Tot blend: vanilla, caramel and milk chocolate up front, toasted wood underneath, plus tropical hints of pineapple and coconut. Several tasters who knew the older release call this one "more fruits and lighter notes" — softer and easier, if a touch less rich.

A rum tasted at GRF in 2025. A nose of caramelized sweetness with a beautiful woody bitterness and a roasted side. The entry on the palate is watery, then stewed fruits, a hint of acidity and wood. The finish is rather short even if the woody/bitter aromas linger long.

#6833 22.05.2026 Tasting with the "gang" and what a wonderful evening we had 😊🙏🥃 A very well balanced rum with a nice price tag. Also very good in mixers. Nice and fruity rum with some coffee, ginger, cardamom, anise and light chocolate in the roasted wood notes.

7,8:On the nose, toasted/roasted wood notes with cocoa, cardboard, sweet molasses, roasted nuts, spicy, metallic patina, pineapple and banana, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, apricots, cherries and coconut arise, caramel, vanilla and leather, some iodine and tobacco. 7,4:On the palate, the attack is mild, coppery, sweet with roasted wood notes like milk chocolate, butterscotch, pastry, roasted nuts, spicy with cinnamon, fruity with toasted coconut, pineapple, litchi, like a marmelade, papaya and later orange peel and dried apricots, as on oxidation the rum becomes bitter, slightly dirty, and the molasses sweet with brown sugar. 7,1:The finish is rather short, bland, dry, the oak is roasted, spicy, bitter with metallic patina, the fruits tropical, citrus and the molasses slightly minty..

Crosstasting Black Tot 2019 & 2025: Flatter than its predecessor. The dark notes of dark chocolate, roasted aromas and tobacco can no longer be tasted, but rather milk chocolate. Alcohol is even less present.

A direct comparison of the BlackTot Blend from 2019 and the Blend from 2025. The BlackTot from 2019 is more woody and chocolaty in the foreground and the 2025 is more fruity, which is more present. Neither is bad for the price level, but neither is a real winner

On the nose: Sweet notes from vanilla and caramel. Nice roasted woody notes. Taste: Sweet at first, but then it changes to more sour, spicy and darker notes. Woody, roasted. Chocolate notes. Spices like cinnamon and light black pepper. Fruit notes like papaya. Finish: Woody, spicy and roasted. Short-medium finish. Maybe my first Black Tot, so i cant tell how this rum is compared to others Black Tot blends. Price to quality is pretty good in my mind

A smooth, fruit-forward Navy blend with vanilla, caramel, chocolate, coconut, and pineapple. Pleasantly approachable and well integrated, but overall rather light and uncomplicated. It lacks a bit of depth and length, but still works well as a relaxed everyday rum.

Entry-level navy-style bland from Black tôt. The whole is round and easy to drink. We can't really say that one origin really stands out.a few fruity Jamaican notes.it presents a little caramelized thickness and a little smoke.

For me, a bit too watery in the mouth and a too short finish. But otherwise a pretty solid rum that I like better than its predecessor. No big fuss. Definitely also quite suitable for mixing.

The new black tot entry-level blend 2025 compared to its predecessor. Less Guyana content for well-known reasons. Above all, this makes it softer and more palatable. I find that Barbados with FS is particularly noticeable here. There's also quite a bit of pineapple. It seems a little lighter but is not a bad choice for an introduction or simply a relaxed afternoon.

Unfortunately, compared to its predecessor, you can only smell and taste sweetness and a little vanilla. Unfortunately no fruitiness at all, which the predecessor definitely had. Quite suitable as an introduction to the world of rum and ok for the price.

Tasted at Rum Schnacker Club tasting 2026 I found its smell weakly pronounced. Some spice. Otherwise I would describe it as rather delicate. More going on in the mouth! Coconut, very soft, light spices, then milk chocolate. Stays long in the mouth.

Tasting side by side with a remaining sample of the previous blend. The first thing you notice is that the new blend is distinctly lighter in colour. On the nose and palate, the new blend has more high notes and clearly incorporates the Trinidad stone fruit type notes. I do prefer the original blend for its more Guyana dominated profile and richer taste.

Lots of spice, like drinking a liquid, yummy dark pastry or baked bun. Full-bodied, rich and kind of creamy, too. There's even some chocolate in there. Not decadent, but definitely a treat! Warm, earthy and musty with the tiniest hint of dried fruit. Complex, balanced and extremely well put-together for my palate. Not singular, revolutionary or extraordinary, just a damn good heavy hitter with spice and layers.

Quite the change in style. The older one was a much heavier blend that was quite nice. Even though this aims to a much lighter profile which I tend not to seek as often. This surely works a bit better than in the old blend. Quite the improvement!
