#7223 27.08.2026 Enjoying a few rums while packing for the weekend trip to the German Rum Festival in Berlin. Listening to some new Psy Trance on Spotify at the same time. Wow, this was a huge surprice an I'm really happy a friend brought a sample from unknown origin. Intense profile with roasted wood, molasses, fruits, vegetal, herbs, spice, chocolate, diesel, tar, leather and light tobacco.

Swell de Spirits, co-bottling series #18, VIF, 60.7% Port Mourant 1974, Caroni + Albion + Skelton + La Bonne Intention 1980, Depaz 1975, Damoiseau 1980, Gardel 1983, Uitvlugt PM 1964.... A zinzin's blend that's quite wise on the nose, quite a lot of Caroni, but also a buttery, oily, citrus, aged woody side. Taste: pronounced woodiness, big Caroni, saltiness, menthol, perhaps some nuts. Quite spicy finish, butterscotch, red fruit perhaps coming back, a good dose of varnish and Armagnac-type wood. The, cooked fruits, apricots at the bottom of the glass. Superb!

Brutally delicious blend of ancient rums that I was able to taste both directly from the demijohn and later from the bottle. This was definitely not about quantity but about a tiny little essence of excellence. Eternal finish. If you read the individual components of this blend, your eyes almost fall out😅
