Nostalgia drinkers and cola-mixers are the honest audience here — several members grew up with the brand and it clearly bought it a few forgiveness points. In the glass it reads more like a rum liqueur than a rum: artificial chocolate, milk coffee and a sugary-sweet vanilla, with the alcohol poking through. One taster called it "artificial like cotton candy," and the scores back that up. Best drowned in cola over lots of ice.

4,8:On the nose, synthetic, burnt rubber, roasted wood notes with caramel, spicy with vanilla and baking spices, herbaceous molasses and metallic patina, are intermingled. 5,1:On the palate, the attack is faintly fruity, synthetic, sweet with caramel, milk chocolate, coffee, spicy with vanilla, baking spices, salty, the molasses is bitter. 4,6:The finish is short, dry, synthetic, the oak is spicy with vanilla, some milk chocolate is present, the molasses is dark with licorice, perhaps candied.

Arturs Weird & Blind Tasting, thanks a lot for letting me be part of it. And No. 9 is well, yeah :) More like a liqueur/rum liqueur, comes off very artificial and sweet. Still 2nd place out of 3 today, since No. 7 was even worse :)

First of all a BIG THANK YOU to TheDunderHut for being part of the Wird&Blind set again. Together with DomM we took on this task. Unfortunately no unicorn this time, but great rare stuff tried that you don’t usually get so easily. The only thing I really missed were the stories about each individual rum in the splitter.

Well, taste-wise this doesn't really have anything to do with rum... I find it completely artificial. Like chemical flavors were added to pure alcohol. This is one of the few rums that end up down the drain for me. Sorry

Arturs Weird & Blind Tasting #9: Basically bad, but still worlds better than #7. A wild sweet mix of chocolate, baking spices, and coffee. More like a rum liqueur. Alcohol a bit noticeable

This sample gets artificial again. Vanilla is front and center. There's a chemical sharpness in the mix. At the same time sweet and alcohol-sharp. Besides aromas, it probably barely saw any cask.

Poah, no, but I guess we have to get through this somehow. Weird and blind tasting - what can you say about it? It probably works somehow with cola, lots of ice, and preferably a different rum than this one. Artificial like cotton candy, pink would be its color. Then it quickly stops showing any characteristics.

Weird and Blind Tasting von Artur. Sample Nummer 9. Die Abfüllung hat sofort Erinnerungen ausgelöst, aber in der Blindverkostung bin ich nicht drauf gekommen. Aber ja, Old Monk mit seiner intensiv künstlichen Schokolade und (Milch) Kaffee Note . Dazu leicht sprittig. Paar Nostalgiepunkte.

Weird and Blind #9 Received a really nice set from member TheDunderHut, where you never know what you'll get. There are some nice, special rums in there that I wouldn't normally try. I really enjoyed it. This sample: spices and made. Flat, no finish. Not my thing. More of a herbal drink.
