One of the highlights from a blind-tasting set, and the surprise was that it's a German-bottled rum most people pegged as pure Jamaica. Esters, overripe tropical fruit and a funky edge, with young oak and allspice underneath. At 55% it runs intense — a couple of tasters found it a touch too alcoholic on the palate. Loud, fruity and clearly ester-driven.

And the last 3 from Artur's Weird and Blind tasting. Thanks again for that. Chapeau. Very clearly recognizable as a Jamaican. We have esters and tropical fruits here, very funky, but I find it a bit too alcoholic on the palate.

First of all, a BIG THANK YOU to TheDunderHut for being part of the Wird&Blind set again. Together with DomM, we took on this challenge. Unfortunately, no unicorn this time, but we tried some great rare stuff that you don't usually get your hands on so easily. The only thing I really missed was the stories about each individual rum in the spliter.

7,6:On the nose, esters, solvents, funky, overripe tropical, citrus fruits, baked apple, herbaceous, grassy molasses, roasted, smoky wood, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, the wood is spicy with allspice, some rubber is out, the molasses is flowery. 7,7:On the palate, the attack is intense, funky with esters, overripe tropical, red, citrus fruits and berries, sweet with roasted wood notes, smoky like pastry, biscuits, sourdough bread, spicy with allspice, as the molasses is herbaceous and vegetal. 7,5:The finish is medium long, dry and furry, tannic, slightly metallic, with roasted, spicy wood and tropical, red fruits..

Sample series Weird and Blind by @thedunderhut. At first, I thought of a Gallion but quickly dismissed it because the other aromas probably fit Jamaica better. This is one of the better rums from the series.

Arturs Weird & Blind Tasting #11: One of the better rums in the series and surprisingly from a German. Esters, tropical fruits and wood can be perceived, but also something artificial/alcoholic.

Weird and Blind #11 I received a really nice set from forum member TheDunderHut, where you never know what you're going to get. It contains some delicious, unique rums that I normally wouldn't try. I really enjoyed it. This one: a little funky and fruity. This is a nice one.

Die Nase schreckt hier zunächst mit vordergründigen Lösungmitteln ab. die weichen bald Honig und künstlich wirkendem Backgewürz. Am Gaumen trocken mit Würze aus dem Fass und Estern, die in Richtung Obstler gehen.

Weird and blind tasting - pleasant surprise! On the nose already very fruity esters, clear Jamaica influences and promises a bit more - which then comes across well on the tongue too. Some esters, light fruit compote and top-fermented fruit with influences from the cask.
