The sherry does most of the talking here, which isn't what you expect from a young Hampden. Pedro Ximénez casks pile on dark fruit, raisin and dark chocolate, and on the palate they can bury the tropical fruit and ester under all that richness. It's a big, oily 61.7% that carries its heat well. Several members love the depth; a few wish it had more time in the cask.

#5839 09.10.2025 Got new samples from Colours of Rum releases today and I just have to try them. Nose Fresh, medium intense, sweet, light nutts, light wood, fruity, overripe, ester, light leather, faint chocolate, dried fruit. Palate Medium intense, oily, fruity, overripe, ester, sweet, cardamom, light tar, berries, light salty, light anise. Finish Very long and warm, ester, fruity, light citrus, light salt, light anise, faint wood, light tar. Empty glass light tobacco, light tar, light cherry, raisin, light chocolate.

Strong Hampden, but I didn't expect anything else. Lots and lots of ester in any case, tropical fruits are of course also present, but sherry comes through nicely too. Delicious stuff, I like it.

Nice dark colour. On the nose:Esther, fruity and little bit of wood. Sherry cask influence is present, but it doesnt dominate. High abv feels quite pleasant. Taste: Rich dark fruits, spices, dark chocolate. Alcohol is integrated perfectly. Ester feels mild. Sherry cask brings you rich fruity palate. Good body. Finish: Short finish. Dry and roasted, wood.Not much of fruits. Im not a huge fan of any type of sherry cask finishes in rums, because they quite often overtake the rum. This however delivered very rich and deep fruit flavours and i would enjoy sipping more of this neat. Not the best finish, but still very good quality rum
