Solid but a touch one-dimensional, is the honest read here: the Oloroso cask does the heavy lifting. Expect a thick, oily body of dark cherry, raisin and burnt wood, with Hampden's glue-and-varnish esters sitting further back than usual. At 62.3% it burns, but the heat's well integrated. #5840 09.10.2025 Got new samples from Colours of Rum releases today and I just have to try them. Nose Fresh, medium instense, light wood, varnish, glue, fruity, overripe, ester, cinnamon, dried fruit. Palate Intense, warm, light wood, faint smoke, light salt, light mint, glue, light cherry, faint tannins, dry, light nutts. Finish Very long and warm, light wood, ester, fruits, citrus, light berries, dry, light salt, light nutts. Empty glass Light polish, light leather, light tea, light chocolate, berries.

Big Hampden 8 Marks Collection x CoR C<>H Cross Tasting: Sherry aromas again clearly perceptible, but weaker than in the 24086. Alcohol better integrated than in the other bottlings of the series.

Und der vorletzte Hampden, fällt ein wenig ab, aber trotzdem gut :) Ein typischer Hampden, wir haben viele tropische Früchte, aber natürlich auch viel Ester. Holz ist auch erkennbar, sowie etwas Sherry am Gaumen.

Contexte de la dégustation : je me traine depuis 4 jours avec une grosse rhinopharyngite. Nez qui coule, une narine bouchée,toux, 38 de fièvre, pas l'idéal pour une dégustation. Mais on va essayer ce rhum comme traitement pour tuer le diable. Nez : il est puissant, plein d'ester. Ça débouche les narines. Il est surtout très empyreumatique : bois brûlé, poisson fumé. Les fruits exotiques sont bien là, surtout en second nez, avec de la banane écrasée. La colle à bois est bien entendu présente. Quelque chose de plus discret apparaît progressivement : des arômes de vin maderisé, de xérès, se mêlent au piquant de quelques épices. Très séduisant mais je le regouterai sans ma crève. C'est déjà merveilleux de sentir tout ça vu mon état. En bouche : explosif, brûlant, les 62,3° y sont pour quelque chose. Tout de suite des flaveurs de vin fortifié avec beaucoup d'esters. La bouche devient très fruité et s'arrondit en fin de palais. Les notes très puissantes de fumée du nez sont très atténuées. Le liquide est très huileux et nappe bien toute la langue, en apportant une banane bien faite très prononcée. Le boisé est présent mais plus dans le fût de chêne. La finale est très longue, avec une forte présence des épices (gingembre, muscade) mais surtout une étonnante cerise qui reste looooongtemps dans la gorge. Série très limitée de 75 bouteilles de chaque finition ( Oloroso, Pedro Ximenez, Fino, Madère), c'est un rhum qui ne laisse pas indifférent.

On the nose: Quite heavy and deep. Strong cask influence. Esters are in the background. Fruity. Cherry. Young wood. Taste: Thick,heavy body with cask influence. Esters in the background. Then it goes deeper on the dark fruits notes, raisin. The high abv is present but integrated. Finish: Medium-long finish. Nutty, fruity notes. Dry. This rum really showcases the heavy sherrycask influence on the rum. The quality is good, but it is pretty one dimentional.
