Opinions here run hot and cold. This is a coconut-forward, sweet flavored spirit drink — think toasted coconut, pineapple and caramel with a chili edge. Some taste piña colada in a glass and a Malaga-ice sweetness they enjoy; plenty of others call the coconut artificial and overpowering, and one tasted compost and burn. It reads more infused liqueur than traditional rum.

Tasted at The Village fair 2026. Not tasted voluntarily, I want to note ;-) Sorry DonPapa but that was nothing. It primarily smells of alcohol and compost heap. Somewhere in the background a bit of coconut. In the mouth also earthy, biting. Uaahhh! What was that and who approved it like this? I wouldn't know anyone who would like that.

Good spirit drink with Raffaello, mango and papaya. Thankfully it doesn’t taste as artificial as some other spirit drinks. This is so far the only Don Papa I can drink well neat.

The intense coconut note is so dominant that the other aromas hardly come through. The aroma also feels artificial, perfumed, and not very authentic, making the rum more like a flavored spirit. Those who like strong coconut flavors in a sweet rum might enjoy it.

Der Geruch nach relativ künstlichem Kokos und einer am ehesten butterigen (Fehl-)Note mit etwas Karamell ließ mich erstmal böses vorhersehen. Im Geschmack dann zum Glück gar nicht so übel, schöne, ziemlich natürliche Kokosnuss im Vordergrund und Abgang, süß und mild, etwas Karamell. Schöneres Kokos als Canerock. Drinks: - Pur: 4/5 - Rum Cola: 2.5/5 (Kokos-Cola wäre eigentlich gut, aber die "butterige" Note kommt durch)

After almost 3 years of waiting, I was very excited about the new Don Papa. Unfortunately, it falls short of my expectations. A very dominant coconut aroma on the nose. On the palate, too, every other aroma is overshadowed by the coconut note. With a little imagination, caramel and toffee could be hinted at. The finish is relatively sharp for this sugar bomb. One of Don Papa's worse ones.

You can certainly argue sweeter, we find it easy to drink. A rum you can enjoy in cozy rounds. Not for those with too high demands.

Promising and interesting on the nose with a hint of Jamaican esters, on the palate there is too much going on... Lots of different flavors until the rum itself disappears.
