wow! what a stunner, incredibly intense, aromatic and complex.🔥💯current reference from Vietnam for white rums, I can't wait to see what else is coming in the future. It goes really well in a daiquiri and is also very tasty and pleasant on its own!

#4563 19.01.2024 Got a set of samples from a former colleague in Sweden and today I'll give them a go. My tastebuds are still hyper sensitive, which can be both good and bad. This one was a huge surprise. I have travelled in these areas and the quality of their alcohol has gone op significantly over the years. Fruity and floral on the nose with a touch of sake which surprised me a bit as I like sake. The palate is fresh and has some anise to it. The finish is medium long and equally fresh with a light medicinal note. The empty glass has some chocolate and faint tea notes.

Wouldn't have thought that rum is produced at Caribbean level in Vietnam. This one is hardly distinguishable from the agricoles from the Caribbean. Citrus fruits, tropical fruits and sugar cane, only here herbs are added on the palate. Really great.

A remarkably rich Vietnamese rum. The nose is intensely floral, grassy and earthy, with tropical fruit, citrus and lychee in abundance. Sugar cane is also perceptible in this bouquet. On the palate, peppery and spicy notes form an ensemble that is both dry and powerful, fresh and delicious, intense and flavorful. The finish is long and intoxicating. A gustatory pleasure and a wonderful discovery of Vietnamese terroir combined with French savoir-faire.

Tasting from the Advent calendar #8 I will be lenient because I know it's a distillery that's not very old and is progressing quickly. Nevertheless, I was not convinced by this juice. I found it quite flat overall, aromas not developed enough.

Vegetal nose: fresh cane/citrus/sake Warm attack: peppery/fruity/vegetal Long finish: iodized/spicy I'd like to take this opportunity to compare it to a sample of the Overproof version (54%) that my friend David recently sent me. The markers are obviously very close to those of the 65%. I'll just say that this Overproof version's attack on the palate is less aggressive. In fact, it's surprisingly smooth. There's a watery/diluted feel to the attack on the palate. But the aromas appear right away, with a long, lingering finish. I find this white rather well-balanced, with a preference for the 54% version, which has a more pleasant attack on the palate.

Tasted at the Caen Spirits Festival 2025. I had heard good things about this rum and was not disappointed. You might think of an agricole because this pure juice has all its markers. Nice freshness, very present cane, citrus. Also nice exotic fruits. Beautiful intensity, great success. It's well made.

The nose is crisp and heady, with notes of lychee, canned corn, ripe tropical fruits, citrus in the background with mint and alcohol. The palate is sweet (marzipan), citrusy(lime) and peppery, with tropical fruits, lychee and alcohol/grape brandy in the background. On the finish ,quite persistent, there appears a tasty sweetness and licorice with some dates pleasantly warming the throat. In the empty glass light wood. It has personality but does not excite me. In blending it is definitely worthwhile

This Sampan overproof is really not bad. The alcohol could be better integrated, but the profile is interesting. The palate is full and smooth. Cane and sweetness are present.

I liked it, simple and effective. It reminds me of a red cane Longueteau. The nose is very flattering, soft with raspberry and cane dominating. On the palate it’s livelier with a slight pepper, but still with the nose’s markers.

A beautiful unfortunately unaged rum from Vietnam. Would never have thought that tastes so good. The wonderful floral notes fit perfectly in a TiPunch or a daiquiri. Also pure he goes times on a beautiful summer evening or with ice, lime and some sugar.
