Ripe Clarendon from the strong 1995 vintage with a classic profile. On the nose, ripe fruit, peach, along with mint/menthol, black tea, wood, and a warm spice note. On the palate, dense and balanced with dark fruit, dry oak, spice, and a fine, slightly bitter structure that holds well. Feels clearly matured and serious, without being overly funky. No standout highs, but a very clean, coherent bottling with depth and good balance.

The additional time in the cask added some more woodiness to the EMB while simultaneously rounding off some edges which are common in most of the younger bottlings. The wood is in no way overwhelming but makes this one remarkably balanced and round. For me it cannot quite dethrone my 95 reference from Velier, but it is closer than others. I’m pleasantly surprised: top notch bottling.

Fair review: Nose exceptionally good. Palate a bit weaker, but still top-notch! The mint is really well expressed and harmonizes perfectly with the tropical fruits! Alcohol perfectly integrated! Edit in the X-Tasting with the "brother": Mint and tea also well expressed, but here the fruits and esters dominate. Also a bit sharp in the finish, but noticeably longer.

A rum tasted at the GRF in 2025. A nose of stewed and overripe fruits, intense and full with well-integrated wood and a touch of refreshing menthol. The palate is ample and rich, with overripe tropical fruits balanced by the menthol. The finish remains nicely fruity, then the fruit fades and the wood becomes more noticeable. A very nice Clarendon.

Yep, this Clarendon is a crazy one. Definitely very fruity, you can recognize passion fruit and papaya. But this rum is also very spicy and woody, you can also detect a bit of sweetness thanks to caramel here.

In my eyes, this is a very well-aged and rich Clarendon, which moves on a rather woody, tannin-rich side. The nose is magnificent with lots of fruits, wood, leather, mint, and cask notes. Then mango, overripe tropical fruits, passion fruit, peach, tannins, and vanilla are present. The palate is very spicy and powerful. Wood, spices, caramel, and mint are followed by tropical fruits like papaya, passion fruit, mango, and pineapple. Varnish and tannins accompany the aroma while the woody accent remains. The long and strong finish is spicy, woody, and minty before being enlivened by tropical fruits like mango and passion fruit. Spices, tannins, and smoke provide a certain seriousness and are accompanied by a dry mouthfeel. I find this bottling very exciting and varied. Thanks to @Skyfly for the great sample 😀

Really brilliant nose. Very fruity with a nice mint note. Could almost pass as a very good TDL. Also a lot of fruit on the palate, some pepper, wood, and spices. Overall, I really like it. So far, I haven't really warmed up to the Clarendons, but by now I especially like the 95ee a lot. I also find that the Appleton Hearts are sometimes very similar to the 95 Clarendons.

9,3:On the nose, tropical fruits like maracuja, passion fruit, banana, peaches, mango, overripe, medicinal with menthol, roasted wood notes like dark chocolate, leather, spicy, molasses with black tea, minty, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, molasses is thick with licorice, flowery, grassy, dairy hints join, burnt sugar, pastry, caramel, spicy vanilla, allspice, meaty, tannic, some rubber. 9,1:On the palate, the attack is medicinal with varnish, menthol, waxy, creamy, fruity with fermented tropical fruits like passion fruit, maracuja, banana and pineapple, later mango, pomegranate, citrus and yellow fruits, dairy hints, molasses is minty, flowery, fresh with tea, grassy and the wood roasted with caramel, pastry, spicy with vanilla, anise, allspice.When the rum is well rested, Bubble gum hints join. 9,1:The finish is long, dry&tannic, elegant, with roasted oak notes, spicy, smoky, malty, medicinal, slightly dirty with burnt rubber, fruity with various tropical and citrus fruits, fermented with dairy notes, molasses is minty.

#5605 Enjoyed at the Colours of Rum tasting at the German Rum Fest 2025. This is a very nice and medium intense release. Very fruity with nice ABV integration ans a very long finish. The price tag is a bit high and getting one will be a challenge.

EMB 1995, this can only be great! Another excellent rum of its kind. For me personally, the strong mint note is almost too much. Depending on your mood, it can be a lot of fun. Letting it sit in the glass for a while can be worth it ;)

Today, a direct comparison of the two heavyweights Clarendon EMB 1995 from The Bottleshop and CoR... and neither of them disappoints. For me, it's a clear tie.. on the nose, the Bottleshop is a bit softer and has a bit more menthol on the finish. The CoR is a bit edgier and more direct... but in the end, the aromas are almost identical. The 95 Clarendons just remain legendary

Once again a 95 Clarendon in the glass. I have to admit it's pretty good, but somehow I'm still oversaturated with this profile. Unfortunately, it doesn't grab me as much anymore. From memory, though, it fits seamlessly among the other good releases of the vintage.

Tasting WLP 2025. 👃 What aromas! A great concentration of all kinds of tropical fruits coated with an enveloping and vibrant woodiness. The barrel and tannins express themselves, vanilla, spices, and very pretty menthol notes. 😋 What barrel power! The brightness of the wood meets the liveliness of ripe, sweet tropical fruits. A true basket of sun-kissed fruits. Added to this is a menthol freshness, eucalyptus, chili, and light licorice. ⛳ Warm, long, concentrated, fruity, fresh. 💡 Very good Clarendon 95. In my memory, Velier's Paradisetto and Fine Drams are superior. The tasting at the event surely did not do justice to this CoR selection.

First impression: very tasty and smooth. Unfortunately expensive. Will have to hold its own against the Clarendon 97 from Finedrams. Many thanks to RumTaTa for the sample. Edit: RX24192 tasted together with RX16023. Both are similarly dark in color, although the Finedrams is cloudier. On the nose, the typical profile of longer matured EMBs, although the Finedrams seems a little more intense and wild to me, whereas the CoR is a little rounder and smoother. The Finedrams is a wonderful explosion of aromas on the palate with countless tropical fruits, light violets and floor wax. Can be sipped for minutes. Everlasting finish. No wonder this bottling was at the top of the 2023 awards. A phenomenal price/enjoyment ratio for the issue price. The only problem is that the bottle is almost empty and the rum is now sold out. With the CoR, the alcohol initially bites a little. However, the comparison is unfair here, as the Finedrams is almost empty. The CoR is also a firework of tropical fruits, violets and bean wax, but a little less intense, with a hint of caramel. Overall, the CoR is somewhat softer and more sedate and not as wild and boisterous as the Finedrams. The finish is also very long and beautiful here. All in all, I like the Finedrams a little better, but the CoR doesn't need to hide either. However, the price/enjoyment ratio is much better with the Finedrams.

Strong 95 EMB with the typical markers. Rather on the dark side. Nice wood with menthol and a pleasant balance with a potpourri of overripe and "gassy" tropical fruits. For me, better than the first COR bottling (edition2) and from memory in the same league as the second 95 EMB bottling from COR (edition10) ... delicious.

A superb bottling from Colours of Rum that has everything to seduce. The nose is hyper exuberant, especially on this marmalade of ripe exotic fruits going towards mango, papaya, passion fruit, and peach. There is also a superb freshness of menthol and mint, beautiful spices, leather, but also woodiness and roasted notes that are very well integrated, it's very pleasant. A balanced, complex, and generous olfactory profile. The attack on the palate is powerful but very elegant. We find this breath of menthol freshness, this basket of ripe exotic fruits described on the nose, but also a powerful woodiness that is perfectly blended for its age. Added to this are roasted notes, leather, and more pronounced spices (chili). The alcohol is superbly well integrated. Even if this is not the first Clarendon 95 to come out, this one is still damn tasty and complex. The finish is really superb, very long and enhanced by this mix of ultra fruity, exotic, and gourmand notes, but also by mentholated, spicy, woody, and smoky scents. The tannins from the cask express themselves and bring their share of finesse at the end of the mouth. A superb rum in every respect, powerful, balanced, and captivating.

Tasted on the occasion of Whisky Live Paris 2025. On the nose, hint of glue, menthol, lots of tropical fruits and oak. On the palate, lots of fruits again, very good balance of aromas and alcohol integration. An amazing long aged Clarendon.

Among the impressive display from our Polish friends, this Clarendon really blew everyone away, I think. A big marmalade of exotic fruits, mango, a well-melted woodiness, minty & fresh notes... a slightly spicier finish that makes it worth coming back for more. Top, even if it could prove a little boring in the long run. Lacks a bit of a twist.

Incredibly tasty and almost drinkable as it is so wonderfully fruity. A full range of tropical fruits. There are also some mint and menthol notes that complement the whole thing wonderfully. Very harmonious.

Delicious, you get a lot and should bring plenty of time! The nose is already a blast with total aroma density of wood, various tropical fruits, esters and funk - on the edge something between menthol and slight marzipan. On the tongue, the wood almost hits a bit too bitter and dark, you have to work for the esters and keep putting the glass down and taking your time on the palate. If you drink too fast, a harsh-bitter woody note remains and you miss the exoticism behind it.

Here we have a very bold, spicy Clarendon that reminds me of Appleton. On the nose, I get dried tropical fruits with mint, nestled in wood. Very tasty. The palate hits first with a fruity sweetness, then straight into wood and spice, powerful tannins and black tea with menthol. The finish is warm and damn dry with smoky wood. A tough nut but really good.

Wowwww Magnificent 😍 How to describe this juice? There are lots of fruits, notes of mint, a bit of chili, lots of pineapple An endless length and a very well integrated alcohol I waited a little half hour before dipping my lips on the glass, a bit wild at first, but with this wait it gives its full potential 😍😍😍

Edit 25.07.2026: Among the EMBs, rather in the lower mid-range, as the herbal notes are a bit too pronounced for me. Still, of course, a very nice rum. You can't go wrong with EMB95, and this is no exception. The long aging results in a rather dark base character, without being over-oaked. Always a pleasure.

One of the highlights of the WLP, this Clarendon 1995 that recalls me a 1997, thanks to his fresher profile compared to other 1995 i tried. 🥇 Excellent Category: Clarendon 1995 – 61.5% Aged 29 years (23 of them in the tropics!), this rum is both delicious and puzzling. The nose is very fruity, the palate reveals beautiful notes of mint and peach. Blind, you immediately think of a TDL! Personally, I remain convinced there was a labeling issue and that this is indeed a TDL disguised as a Clarendon. But in the end, it doesn’t matter: the main thing is that it’s very good — and it is!

Great 1995 Clarendon. Definitely doesn't have to hide from my favorite distillery Hampden. Lots of fruit and a subtle sweetness. I'm still unsure about the menthol note in the finish.
