Glue, solvent, varnish and overripe fermented banana up front, with black pepper, spice and a little virgin-oak caramel behind. Nose Fresh, intense, fruity, overripe, faint wood, spice, ester, citrus, banana, faint mint, light olive. Palate Intense, warm, fresh, light wood, oily, fruity, overripe, ester, pineapple, banana, olive, light salt, light caramel, faint rubber. Finish Very long and warm, oily, fresh, light wood, faint smoke, fruity, light anise. Empty glass Light caramel, banana, olive, light licorise, light mint.

Actually a total wimp Jamaican. No idea who likes this crap, I certainly don't :) Better try this Long Pond with plenty of caramel instead. We've got a really tasty one here.

Typical TECA aromas with lots of varnish, spices and tropical fruit. Caramel on the nose, sharp-edged on the palate and lots of spices. The banana comes through after a little resting time. Very pleasant finish, alcohol well integrated. A few more years would have been really good for this rum

This could be my first time reviewing TECA mark rum, so yeah, take this review with a grain of salt. On the nose: light ester, glue, tropical fruits. Light caramel with hints of vanilla. Light fermented notes. Taste: Esters with little bit of fermented notes with fruity notes. Then you get spicy notes and little bit of heat coming from alcohol. Barrel notes and little bit of nutty notes come in at the end. Deep and dark notes Finish: Woody and barrel notes. Little bit of esters. Finishes dry. Surprisingly woody with deep and dark fruity notes. After few sips i started to enjoy it more and more.

I like the Mark TECA and this bottling confirmed it again. Despite the young aging in a fresh oak barrel, this LongPond offers all the expected aromas with a strong and complex depth that was not to be expected. Excellent! If the alcohol were a bit better integrated, it would easily have reached 9.0.

What can I say, it is a TECA, from start to finish. All the typical markers such as fermented fruit, varnish and solvent are present, as is the meatiness. The bottling with a few years of tropical maturation would certainly have been a hit, but even as it is, and despite its young age, it is still very appealing.

A hell of a rum that's lively and good for curing a cold. The nose is very powerful, mineral, marked by all the strength of the TECA mark and its well-ripened tropical fruits fermenting (banana) and its heavy phenolic notes on esters, solvents, glue, and varnish. The new oak barrel brings this woody dimension, slightly spicy and caramelized, which blends very well into the profile. It clears the nostrils. The attack on the palate hits hard with the vigor and youth of the profile, esterified to death, tannic and very concentrated. Then, with a bit of time, the profile calms down and lets more expression of black pepper, chili, wood, pastries, and ripe exotic fruits (pineapple, banana). It becomes almost smooth and is accompanied by a warm breeze on the palate. An oily, lively profile but well integrated in terms of alcohol nonetheless. The finish is extremely long, numbing, and neutralizes the palate sensors. The profile takes on a dry tone with wood, smoke, black pepper, and chili, which go well with the astringency and phenolic notes (esters, solvents). The whole remains fruity and indulgent. Quite a show with a well-matched oak barrel that will delight lovers of strong sensations.

You can definitely tell it's young. A wild TECA, full blast of lacquer, solvents. Unfortunately, for me it's just a bit too sharp-edged. As a mixer, it surely delivers though. Solid neat.
